I purchased one of my favorite locomotives from a dealer, Marklin 37181, K. Bay Sts, which has the older digital decoder. Does anyone know how to select the correct newer mFx w/sound decoder and speakers? I have spent quite some time on Marklin's website to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,
Marklin have made delta/digital locomotives with a standard backward compatible plug in interface.

In my opinion, the 60945 sound decoder will do. Full instructions come with the kit.
The kit is supplied with a connector circuit board, which also provides the now standard 21 pin interface.
Firstly, you remove the older decoder. The board slots into the older delta/digital installation base.
Then the decoder plugs straight in to the new circuit board, using the 21 pin interface.

I updated a 34157 with this kit.

You should confirm this with your dealer.
I usually email Marklin for confirmation, but they lately have not responded to emails, as advised here by other members.

regards
Kimball

Thanks Kimball, I checked the Marklin website, thanks to you providing the correct model number, and it appears to be the one!
