Thanks very much for the quick answers to my earlier question about track. Now I need to know what transformer do I need? I am in the US and have looked on
Ebay and there are many different Marklin transformers available with different outputs. Again, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

3029 is a small loco without lights
so needs a very small amount of power (<10VA).

So you can select, for this loco any Märklin transformer for HO analog models
with 0 to 16V AC output and the overvoltage position to reverse direction.

But you have to consider:
- if you will have - one day - other locos to run simultaneously => so need to more power
- if you will have - one day - electric turnouts, lights in scenery houses... => so need to 16V AC accessory output
- if you will have - one day - delta/digital loco to run in analog mode => so need to a no-destroying-decoder transformer

If you live in US, mains supply must be 110V AC
An interesting choice could be one of the 664x (32VA) items,
In France, I use the 6647 one for mains 220V AC,
For USA, it must be the 6646

Once I had the opportunity to buy a complete Märklin starter set with transfomer,
for a lower price than a transformer alone...

Best regards
Joël

Should be 120 V for US and 230 V for France.
Märklin always write that transformers made for 110 V or 220 V must not be used with digital locos. Use the newer ones for 120 V or 230 V respectively.

Thanks Joel. That is what happened to me too. I checked on ebay and was able to buy a starter set with a new transformer for around $100. dollars. Thanks very much for your advice.
