Designing my new layout, I will start from the bottom... I'm interested in a hidden/shadow station with a similar design as below from member laalves. Access to the station should be double track, 77.5 mm distance. As I'm pretty new on C tracks, I would love to get article numbers... Any suggestion of C track plans?

Btw, are there any c track building kits on the market, for building the helix?

The curved 30º track pieces look like 24130 (R1).
The straight track can be either 24172 or 24188.
The 24.3º R2 turnouts are 24611 (left) and 24612 (right).
The curved 24.3º track pieces to "counterbalance" the turnout are 24224.

Great info as usual Ak,
Can you clarify that link?
It doesn't click through for me.

Hej Peter,

If you have basic skills with a jig saw, making a helix should be no problem for you. I would recommend simply using 9mm plywood and R2 or R3 radius pieces. Figure out the minimum clearance you want between the helixes, and use threaded rod with nuts and washers to space the helixes.

Hi Peter,
Noch sell complete plywood helix kits for use with C track.
Start with their kit number 53001 for R1, it works for M, K, or C track.
This is complete with separation pegs, and gives you 1.5 circuits.

53004 is for double R1/R2 tracks.
53009 is for double R4/R5 tracks.

This is the instruction overview diagram that comes with kit 53004.

Grrrrr, the link is indeed "dysfunctional" now. Seems like the doc was withdrawn. And I did not keep a copy of the download. Sorry for that.

Here a nice example of a gent who did that, using it for his temporary "Teppichbahning":

BTW, photo #1 with the drill illustrates how he used that power tool to ease the tiring task of "rotating" the nuts.

Here is a helix kit from Istanbul. I think he has a single track helix too, but it is a bit pricey.

Thx for all your input! This is what I came up with so far... On this "bottom" level, the layout space is approx. 350 x 130 cm. The hidden station will have 6 tracks, each of approx. 136 cm length. I plan to use R2 and R3 in hidden areas, R4 and R5 - and the 24912 piece - in visible areas.

Would you have any "smart" solutions to narrow the space on double-track, from 77.5 mm to 64.3 mm?

Nevermind my own question on how to get from 77.5 to 64.3 mm; I found this great description on http://lucy-michael.klen.../hobbys/modelleisenbahn/

There are many alternatives. Here is another one. As train movements over the changeover from straight track to R1 in the lower right hand corner do not look nice (unimportant in hidden area), I would prefer a wider radius there as R2/R3.

I've got their solution (not yet assembled). To make the postage worthwhile (as its a bit and heavy package), I ordered a 5 cycle + a 3 cycle helix kit. This way I can build an 8 level or make two 4-levels, or other combos. Once I get my flooring in place and can build up the helix (as it won't fit out the door once assembled ) I'll start experimenting to see how many loops I need to get the height change I need.

Its well made, smooth edges, all hardware included.
Toys of tin and wood rule!

Don´t ask what the helix can do for you, but ask what you can do for the helix.
