to the little passenger coach of set 28970 - the wedding train?

its only a little 4 wheeled coach but theres not instructions anywhere for the fitting of lighting to the passenger coach and i think it would look great esp in the evenings.

sorry if this has been covered somewhere - i did search for it but could not find it (-

many thanks once again for all our help in here to this newbie!

Hmm, the coaches that were issued to go with the earlier versions of that loco came fitted with lighting.I don't know if that coach is a white painted version of the other coaches. I'll have to get my sey out and compare them.

They were done this way as the loco had a conductive coupling and supplied the power for the coach lighting. I don't know if that edition of the loco has the conductive coupling.

The Bavarian coaches in the original version were a different type to the coach in this set.

I have no doubt that a skilled modeller could add lighting to this coach, but I myself would have too many thumbs to attempt it!

There are sets out there with LED strips carrying an on-board battery which would be easy to do. I think they are switched on and off by tapping the top of the coach with a magnet. The battery lasts a long time, but you would need access to change it occasionally. I'm sorry but I can't remember who makes it.

Edit:

I just found a company that makes coach lighting that comes on when the train starts to move and stays on for a few minutes after it stops. No power pickup needed.

Have a look here:

You can get them from Gaugemasters in UK:

I've decided I'm going to buy three of the CL1 or CL2 strips from Train-tech and try them out on one of my coach rakes. At £20 each they are not cheap, but considering you get the auto-switch on and switch off delay and you don't need to budget for the extra costs of pickup shoes, conducting couplers, and accessory decoders I think the cost is not unreasonable.

Now I just need to decide on which coaches....

Ray,

I saw these guys at the Perth MRR show last year, and I would be interested to see what the lights look like once fitted.

These look like they'd be perfect for the tinplate cars. All those sliders cause so much drag and add so many opportunities to cause a third rail to ground short.

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

I've ordered 3 of the warm white strips (CL2). I'll let everyone know how it works out.
