Hi all,

I won an eBay auction of Märklin 670470 Decoder. It looks like Märklin 6090 or 60901 type decoder except that it has a capacitor on it´s PCB. Here is a link to the auction I won:

Link to Märklin 670470 eBay auction

All info I could find from Google is that it is/was a quite expensive decoder (around 135-170 euro) and it is a spare part decoder. I paid about this 25,50 euro + shipping cost. As I like these decoders with potentiometers and DIP-switches I decided to give it a try. Maybe I will digitalise my orange-black Märklin 3166 electric loco ÖBB BR 1141.06 with this decoder. I still need a proper 5-pole DCM motor for it.

All info is very wellcome!

Thank you in advance ThumpUp .

Regards,
Janne

Hi, Janne,

The decoder 670470 is listed on the 3740 spare part list. So this must be a 6090 decoder.
IIRC 3740 came with a red sheet of paper indicating that this loco does not have automatic system detection.
Regards
Tom

Hi Tom,

Thank you for fast answer. I have the Märklin 3740 DB E 110 with original box and papers, but it was bought as second hand. No red sheet of paper in that box as I just checked it. It could have been dissapeared from previous owner.

Yes, it has type 6090 decoder = no acceleration and braking delay on/off control like in 60901 type. In the instruction manual there is just mentioned how to set the decoder into analog mode with all DIP-switches in off position.

So if it's basically another version of 6090 it is just what I need for my digital conversion. 3166 ÖBB or old 1960's 3035 FS electric will have this decoder. I have two 3035's from early 1960's, but the one I want to digitalise has very weak motor compared to the another one. New 5-pole DCM motor conversion kit and 6090 decoder would be a great combo. I'm not that big fan of mfx, but I can live with them also. I have always been happy with these decoders with potentiometers (6090 and 60901 type).

Regards,
Janne

Hi,

I decided to digitalise my 3074/3674 DB BR 216 127-1 with this decoder today. It runs now very smooth and nice with it´s new 60944 motor kit (5-pole DCM). I installed a ball bearing in this locos motor shield also. It has only direction dependent lights on/off control. I set the acceleration and braking delay to max. setting and top speed to max. also. It runs now faster than it´s prototype in 1:87 scale, but the speedo is more accurate when it runs with it´s prototypical speeds this way. I set the speedo to 0-200 km/h in my CS2.
