Trying to engage smoke on loks, but the symbol is not shown. When using the MS2 with a Marklin mfx BR 01 or Brawa S 2/6 only f0 to f3 show on the display. The shift button was engaged, as show in the manual, but the other functions, including smoke, were not shown. When placing the 01 on the rails with the CS2 all the functions were on its display. What is needed to have all the functions show on the MS2?

Is the Br01 mfx+? You might need to update your MS2 software to get the functions to display correctly.

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways
Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Normally mfx locos should register with all their symbols on both MS2 and CS2.
Maybe mfx is disabled on the MS2. Did you use "Find loco" to enter the loco?

Thanks for the prompt replies. Tried the "find" loco and the mfx of the BR 01 and the DCC of the S 2/6 were detected, but no functions beyond f3 registered. Looks like the MS2 needs an update the next time I have access to a CS2 in two weeks.

You can check immediately which version your MS2 has and whether mfx is active.

Nothing will change with respect to your DCC loco. Register the loco manually from the address and you will get 13 functions automatically.
Either way you can (and you will have to) adjust functions and symbols manually.
The detected loco has F0 through F4 only, but you can select symbols also for F5 through F15. As soon as you set any symbol, those function keys will work.

The mfx lok was loaded manually and only four functions appeared again. In two weeks I'll have access to a CS2 at the ETE meeting and update the MS2. Thanks

You cannot load mfx locos manually - unless mfx is disabled in the MS2.
So you should check which track protocols are activated in the MS2 settings.
