Well, the good news is I did install the esu lokpilots correctly. But I guess the converted locos are drawing too much power. Each one draws 0.2 to 0.3 amps at full speed. The track stops when the ms2 shows .6 amps. The newer loco the track came with only draws 0 to 0.1 amps. Is this just a function of these older locos (1990s) require more power? I'm using the 66365 transformer 18vdc 30VA. Is there a better power supply or should this be adequate to run 6 locomotives? All the locos have been oiled and appear to run smooth to me anyway.

0.2 though 0.3 A is normal for converted locos.
The power supply is good for 1.667 A and the MS2 should handle 1.9 A. Märklin don't offer a better power supply for 120 V.

That should be adequate to run four or more locos assuming 0.3 A or less per loco.

Are the tracks clean? Do you see flickering of the headlights?

Do you see sparks when you run the locos without bodies in a dark room?
Regards
Tom

Any other "consumers" on the track like eg lighted wagons?

RF suppression capacitor on the feeder track?

Nothing else on track. Track is brand new. Rf suprpression is on. Will try without it. Are there any settings on the ms2 I should look at?

Are you using C track? Suppressor 74046 is known to cause overload with MS2 (I already mentioned that in the other thread about the same problem).

It was the suppressor! What's up with that?

The suppressor is for analogue operation (50 or 60 Hertz) and must not be used for digital operation (about 5000 through 10000 Hertz).
Due to the higher frequency it draws too much current.
