Just spent all nite installing new lokpilot 4.0 and it actually worked! ms2 even recognized it auto in dcc. Then I said I'll put on my analog track. It worked, I hit reverse and bam it no longer worksCursing . As usual I read the manual after and it says the old blue transformers could blow the decoder. So is there a way to test the decoder to see if it's truly dead? Maybe using a voltmeter/ohmmeter?

You can measure the reversing voltage of your transformer. 28 V is the specified maximum voltage for most ESU and Märklin decoders (32 V for some ESU decoders).
Do not risk any other digital decoders if you read more than 28 V.

Hello,
According to ESU manual, Lokpilot 4 for DCC only, art. no. 54611, does not support analog power.
Which one did you have, DCC or multiprotocol?

Regards,
Juha

I had a 54610, it did work in analog until I tried to reverse it. Oh well, live and learn.
