Great find! I guess Marklin's 70900 tool set would not help building that one

It certainly offers a great perspective on wheel size - can you imagine what they must weigh on their own?

A stunning video. Many, many thanks for finding this.

The BR 05's are my favorite steam engines. Attached are my 05 002's; 1944 grey semi-streamlined and 1950.

A very high gloss finish was applied. The reflection of the scenery and train watchers is very defined. They are not just blobs with contrasting color, each person's reflection can be clearly seen in the loko finish.

I guess it would look bad though if your model loko reflected the unfinished ceiling in your basement.

ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

Very interesting video that was great to see. Wheel size is impressive indeed.
The rivet hammers are mean tools indeed, nowadays most things are welded.

I remember some old guy (from my childhood) from the now defunkt Kockums ship yard that had worked as a "rivet counterpressure holder",
ie a guy who presses a heavy metal piece onto the rivet from the inside while the rivet hammer works - at the other end of the stick, so to speak...

I'm sure there is such a guy or 2 inside the firebox holding a piece while the rivet hammer works with the glowing hot metal...

Work conditions back then were not as comfortable as nowadays...

Those were the days when men were men and sheep were afraid. Did you notice they seemed to have no ear protection maybe only a little cotton in the ears if that?
