Hi
A set of hand made tin plate buildings has been put up for sale. They look really rough and made but an hobbiest. I haven't ask if there are any makers marks which would certainly help. They are being sold as Marklin but they would never put anything like this on the market. In the past we have discussed the small town house that the Marklin trainees built. I did see one on a recent german auction but not for sale. It was a strange auction as the seller showed photos of his entire collection which included the house and was actually selling a SR800 for 10,000Euros. Needless to say it didn't sell.
If I find the old auction and picture of the building I will add to the post.

The O gauge trains and track are probably Marklin, the steam engine certainly has the Marklin trade mark of the time on it.

I could believe the square and round towers at each end of the display may have been made by Marklin. Some of the other buildings are commercial printed tin plate, but a number of the cottage type buildings look home made.

I agree that they look pretty rough. The auction currently sits at 1110 Euros so there is more than one individual that thinks tey are rare and real. I believe the owner has had an offer of $5000. I think I would be nervous at $200. I found the photo of I believe a real Marklin building as shown on the original OO layout. I'm pretty sure the owner know what he has.

The buildings eventually went for €8100Woot Woot Love Love , but not on ebay.

They were originally valued close to €20,000, BUT, you have to find someone that is willing to pay that price.....he is very happy that he he got 40% of that valuationThumpUp ThumpUp

Seeing the the pictures in the first post reminded me that they were my mate's, as I remember seeing all the other items including the BR 01, which is Z gauge.

He is a collector of many model railroad items of all brands as well as old tin plate toys, but has decided that he can't take it with him, so the best stuff he'll leave to his daughter, but the rest of his collection will be slowly sold, so that he can spend money on his new toysRollEyes BigGrin Laugh - like new motors and gearboxes for Austin Healey Sprite's and holidays and....and....and...andThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp
