Anyone have any information or guesses on when Marklin Days could be this year? September 11-13 is 18-20 seem the most likely based on previous years.

Bear in mind that this year it will be the full IMA event, with marquees put up in the local park for the exhibition area. I don't have the dates myself.

Mike,

There are a lot of us on the list and I think we will not all get in and therefore we should make alternative arrangements before it is too late.

We take a car, and the wife likes to stay in an apartment on the south edges of Stuttgart. Works out to be about an hours drive, autobahn almost all the way.

In the past we have stayed in a hotel in Eislingen, which is the next town about 2 miles to the east of Goppingen.

Worth looking on booking.com to see what you come up with.

Besides which, if you don't take a car, how are you going to get all the goodies home ??? Blink

Hi Alan

We're definitely going down by car. Which way are you going across the hogwash and when?

Thanks for the tip on Eislingen ThumpUp

We use Tesco Clubcard points to go on the Chunnel. Its only a half hour trip on the train, go around to Auchan at Calais to gas up, and do one of two things, either grab a night ta a hotel (allows us to leave from work of an evening, get down to Folkestone, catch the train, and get to Calais at an acceptable hour), get a nights sleep, and then hit the road across france in the morning, or else we leave from home first thing in the morning, get across on the train in time to grab some lunch and get as far as we can that day. The last couple of times we have overnighted in Calais at a spot called the Cottage Hotel, immediately across the highway from where the train feeds you on to the highway.

Can provide you a map if interested.

Regards

Alan

Yes Mike we should. Me or you?

I would guess a good way for you to cross Hull to Rotterdam, and then straight down autobahn. That was the way we came back this time, we were not too far from Stuttgart, but it is a far old jaunt. I think Nigel will also be going this way.

I understand Nigel is also leading a trip to the new Peter Porsche layout after Marklin days, are you going to join that trip. It is almost on the border with Austria, so its another day in the saddle from Goppingen.

Jacques,

The usual suspects are also booked in to the hotel, so we'll see you there. Keep Friday evening free!

I guess I can count myself as a "usual suspect" as I am booked at the hotel in Goppingen. I look forward to seeing the other "suspects" again. The last visit was the most enjoyable train days to date.

Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing derails me.

Hi Glenn

I am planning to join the trip to see the Porsche collection with Nigel.

Which ferry I use depends on when you and Nigel are going out. If we can coordinatethen I'll gladly go the Hull way. If I'm going out a different day from everyone else then I'll probably go Dover way.

Do you have time to look for a hotel for us both? Will Bren be with you? Gill will be joining me for the visit.

cheers

Sounds like we could have quite a few ladies along too then. Maybe they might like to organise a trip to the spa baths, Jean (my wife) and Chris both know the way.

I think that the option of something else, be it spa or other, may well interest the ladies more than the factory visitThumpUp ThumpUp
