I have a 3793 and in the internal clear packaging is a little depression that holds a coupler and two plastic dark brown "rods" with a square section in the middle - about 1 cm long.
Anyone know what these are for? I cannot see them in the parts diagram.
Thanks, Maurice.

At a guess they are the piston rod protectors...... usually left out as they hang up on the standard R1 360mm radius curves.
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

Yes, these are added to the front end of the cylinders to make it look more prototypical.
As Shane said - not for use with R1 (360 mm) radius.

Thank you, Shane and Juhan.
It is a problematic locomotive as has a tendency to derail its front driving wheels on K Track turnouts. A little extra weight in tender has solved tender derailments.
Other locs do not derail - just this one.

Maurice.

Seems like the copper spring blade pressing the front wheel truck could need some slight adjustment to increase pressure just a little bit. Also make sure it moves freely sideways.
I have had this problem with some loco with the single-axle front wheel truck and the articulated 5-driver wheel frame. Mainly with the BR85 (3308, 33081), though...
