Did you try to reset the 6021 or power recycle it?

Where in NZ are you? Dion at Toottoot could probably repair it for you. Forum member (Peter) Clapcott at the Marklin Club here in Wellington has also repaired a few 6021's in his time, so might also be able to help.

The most common fault with the 6021 seems to be that the output transistors often blow. Replacements are available.

Hi, yes I can fix this for you. Send it to us in Christchurch. We have moved. Check our website www.toottoot.co.nz for the new address.

Looking at the comments it might be more than the output transistors.

Kind Regards
D

I have one 6021 where the buttons have gotten very stiff. The unit still functions, but you have to press really hard to get the key to register. I have seen this on old remote controls, usually when liquid or finger oil gets into the buttons, but this 6021 was never damaged. It came from a 29859 set around 2001. A few buttons still work like new, but some of the function keys and number pad are almost useless.

Since the lights on the train are still working, this suggests that the problem may not be the output transformer, but something else. Have you tested all of the keys to see if it may be the same issue that I have?

Regards

Mike C
