On the weekend of 14/15 November we held our major MRR exhibition for the year. The exhibition is organised by 3 local MRR clubs, including our Marklin Club. There were numerous layouts, some which I have posted pictures of before in previous Railex threads, but there were also some completely new layouts. Our club had 4 layouts on show (well actually 5 but the two 1 Gauge layouts were joined together, so I guess that counts as 1 layout). We had our club H0 and 1 Gauge layouts on show, as well as two other H0 layouts that were available for kids to operate.

The first layout is a two rail layout built from a base of a Noch preformed layout. but it had a Marklin Z Gauge DC controller running it and My World battery trains running on it, so I'm qualifying it as a 'Marklin' layout. It also had as a Fleischmann DC loco with train running. The second layout was an 8 x 4 base with several loops of C track on it and kids could operate the trains on both layouts. The My World set you see in the middle of the second layout was raffled and won by a man who gave the layout to his grandson.

As you can see, the young lad has already integrated his other toys with the train as a central theme. And that is what it is all about.

Our club H0 layout has had some changes made to it with a new station platform area added, with the previous inner branch line loop now converted to an end to end line.

The club was also well advertised...

I need to upload some more photos to this thread, but meantime here is a short video (actually multiple videos joined together) of trains running on our 1 Gauge layout, including my new KM-1 BR01 with full smoke and steam switched on.

The SBB Gottardo you see in the video is not a commercially built train, rather it is scratchbuilt for one of our club members. You might recall that last year I posted some photos of it in it's unfinished state.

Hi Marco, some years ago Kleinbahn was taken to a show where parts of the exhibition including Kleinbahn were outside. Kleinbahn is built inside a aluminum / glass case and the lid was closed when it was outside, which caused the layout to cook somewhat resulting in a lot of the buildings getting warped. Some repairs have been done, and I spent some time repainting some of the roads and pathways, but more work needs to be done to it to get it up to standard.

Don't forget we actually have two factory layouts, the so-called 'Kleinbahn' and also the 'Black Forest' layout.

Kleinbahn is an M-track layout, catalogue code 0542 and I have not yet found another example.

The Black Forest is K-track, layout catalogue code 0917 and I know of (and have seen) a duplicate in Auckland NZ but no others found as yet. Both are in the common 2m x 1x dimension and feature the typical neat construction, straight-line wiring underneath, Faller kits, fully automatic operation etc.

I can add some photo's if you've not seen them before.

Cheers

Cookee

Thanks David, nice to see you guys over the creek putting on a good show and doing the raffle.

Also VERY impressed with your "01", looks absolutely brilliant with all the taps turned on Drool ThumpUp . If only reliable "HO" versions at a good price were available, much rather that than the mfx+ guff.
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

So next year they can expect to see one of these?
