I saw on osterthun's site that the DRG had the 01 002 in the olive green livery, would anyone in this forum buy it if Marklin did make it?

Nice picture of that MicroMetakit loco!
Personally I wouldn't. I'd rather spend the money on something more "exotic" than "yet another BR 01 version"
Of course "exotic" has a different meaning for each of us.
For example, Marklin never did any of the big Florisdorf lok Fabrik OBB steam loco, with their very unique look .

Interesting colour, but not very attractive in my opinion.

Is this loco different in any other way, or would it just be a simple repaint? I guess it would be a nice one-off model for collectors....

I like the color but I could do without the 'whitewall tires'.

Is this a fantasy model or were there 01's actually painted this color? I believe that the first 01's were manufactured in 1935 so it would be a little late to have them in a Bavarian green.

I read somewhere in Eisenbahn courier that 01 002 when it came out in 1925, it was in Olive Green and had the funny looking Wagner deflectors as well

I don't have an 01, but I might be tempted if they brought it out in that colour scheme.
So I am with Stephen on that front.

...(...)...the first serie of 10 BR 01 machines was built and delivered in 1926...(...)...

....The 01 001 made by Borsig + the 02 002 delivered simultaneously by Henschel are routed to the research section of the Raw Grunewald....( Raw = Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk or ''Reichsbahn repair shop'' - improving service of the Reichsbahn- ) they begin their tests on June 30, 1926.
....(....)...To evaluate the machines in service in various conditions, three depots each receive three machines of each type , BR 01 & BR 02.
Ham West received 01 002, 01 003, 01 004, then , a little bit later the 01 001 followed.

(extract from historical publications)

So, at the Raw Grunewald or Hamm West depot, this green livery is more than plausible , I think. (despite that we are quite far from the Bayerish railways)
Because a first draft was done in 1923 March, It could be the Prussian green , only for this first serie of ten locomotives...

Apparently going through Osterthun's website, Minitrix in 2007 made 01 002 in Olive Green and the funny looking Wagner deflectors in 2007 in N Scale:

Hi Roland,
Thanks for that, good information.

Have Marklin finished their "Borsig" series of locos, of which there were to be 5 I believe?
What a perfect addition to that series it would be, to produce the Borsig 01 001 (in green of course).

regards
Kimball

To answer my own question, it appears that only 3 of the 5 "Borsig" series have been offered so far.
37938
37816
37545
So here's hoping.
