Well it looks like it may be a cheap year for me, which is good as I overspent this year considerably BigGrin

Dreaming costs nothing!

I used to do a lot of that when I had a young family and my wife was working part time. My pay would just about cover essentials so new locos during that period were limited to about one a year or less.

As it so happens, I obtained a PDF copy of the Eisenbahn Journal Dampflok Report #4 from 1997, which included some pages on the Br57. It's in German, so I can't read the text at all, but the pictures and diagrams are quite useful. I seems there were quite a few variants of the Br57. I've attached an extract to this post with 9 pages from the magazine on the Br57.
File Attachment(s):
EJ_Dampflok-Report 04_Br57.pdf (4,058kb) downloaded 165 time(s).

It's a pity that Marklin didn't tell dealers to stop price gouging as in the case of the 43866 dinning car - most prices on ebay are 80% to 100% above the RRP (129.95 eur).

The wheel arrangement is different. It will not be the same, but quite similar.

Yes, thanks, I can see that the axle spacings are different between second and third axles, compared to the 3716x series.
There will still be some standardisation of parts.

About first 2 points:
I like the new Telex couplers when used with the current close couplers.
The SDS works good and it is not dependent on the protocol between the command station and the decoder. It just needs appropriate electronics to be controlled.

Well if its cheaper for Marklin to make locos without the SDS motor you think they would pass that saving onto customers or give a customer a choice pay extra for an SDS motor if you wish.I feel its a backward step.

Trix did also had SDS motor with same models like Märklin´s.
But there was defaults with DCC protocol and angry customer who bought Trix models.
That did also cost for Märklin Company to compensate their customers.
No it´s not backward step.
It´s an lesson for Märklin.

The controller for the SDS motor has nothing to do with the protocol controlling the decoder.

Not necessarily.
But Märklin developed one type of controller boards for Trix locos with D&H decoders and another type for Märklin locos with ESU decoders.
But I think the DC users were complaining, not the DCC users.

Tom, I don't disagree; but still, the SDS controller has nothing to do with the protocol being used.

I think most of Goofy's information is based on rumours, read in a language he don't understand,
Google translated to Swedish, and then Google translated to English and posted here.

Most older M-users probably knows; but newcomers might believe a lot of this misinformation.

I Dont know myself but if Marklin wanted them problems could be overcome with the SDS motor the real reason must be cost which makes sense i suppose.
Its great how such a small motor can generate such power etc to pull coaches n wagons etc at speed.

I did had one Trix diesel locomotive with SDS motor.
It did hade same PCB and decoder like Märklin´s.
But used for DCC protocol.
It was deafults between SDS and protocol.
Next time did Trix put Faulhaber motor.
It did worked good again.
So yes dane it was difference!
Märklin will never ever put SDS motor back again in the new models.

Goofy, this topic is about Märklin 2015 new items; not about a loco you once had.

If you would like to tell us about your loco, please start a new topic, and tell us which Trix loco you had,
which had the same decoder as a similar Märklin loco.

DCC is a protocol ( language ), and has nothing to do with the motor controller!!!

Hello Goofy,

this is false.

Trix Locos with SDS had different PCB and Decoders. On Trix locos the control of the SDS driver happens through SUSI Interface, on Märklin loco's trough the AUX functions. That's why in the manual of the 60940 mSD special decoder is mentioned, that you cannot install it in Trix SDS locs.

but as said, this is OT.

Hi all,

While looking for a few 'normal' Märklin items in the maerklin.de product search, the search went down showing an 'in maintenance' message. Quite likely the 2015 New Items are being loaded onto the database right now... ;)

Edit 12:37 (CET): No luck yet, the search is back online without the New Items visible (yet...). Keeping those fingers crossed for news to come soon.

Cheers,
Sander

Interestingly, if you search the site for 37578 you get a dark blue 103 as a New Item ...

I presume you are doing what I am doing, scrolling down looking for the blue 'Neuheit' boxes. At least they are obvious, once you realise what to look for.

Most of the prices are 'on application' at present it seems.

Unless I am doing something wrong the link does not take you to a Marklin New Items list, merely to a list of Marklin items for sale, the links on LHS show Fleishmann and others New Items but not Marklin.

Am I missing something?

I like the Mak G2000! Especially in SBB cargo livery (37202)

I've been looking at the Mehano models, but a Marklin version is even better!

Yes the G2000 looks great. I'm ordering the SNCB series 57. It's right up my street as it runs across in to Northern France were my layout is modelled onLOL

I'm having a lot of trouble getting on the website now. I got to page 3 and then page 4 refused to load. Now I can't access the website at all....
