Hi all, new here. I think I was a member some time back but can't remember old login details so started fresh.
I did a search of the forums first to see if this question has been asked before but couldn't find any.
As a digital ignoramus (at least when it comes to MRR) I would like to know a little about the infrared controller being supplied with
some of the current digital starter sets.
1. Where is the receiver located for the infrared communication. In the powerpack, loco or feeder track or somewhere else?
2. What are the limitations with the device as far as loco, functions and track control?
I could just wait for my new catalogue to arrive and hopefully find the information in there but I'm sure you don't mind answering
this innocent enough question.

In the feeder track.

It's Märklin, so there are no limit. LOL
Four loco addresses, five functions per loco, power output should be enough for two trains (three may run or may lead to overload - depends on the trains).

Very optimistic view. Märklin economize the information in the catalogue.

Hi Michael,

Welcome back to the forum from me too.

As Tom has already answered, the receiver for the infrared communication is located on the feeder track and is visible from the outside: a transparent plastic bubble is located on the top of the feeder track in order to receive the infrared signal from all the directions.

Cheers

Renato

Thanks for the welcome guys and thanks for the explanation Tom.
Shame about the catalogue they use to be so informative. I've only
bought 1 in the last 14 years but have from 1979 to 2000 complete.
