...so my buddy brings along his freshly updated MS2 (from v1.81 to v 2.3) to update my mS2 - have done this on numerous occasions, so no big deal we're thinkin' - BUT Scared - as the updating is almost complete his MS2 suddenly "dies", no power, no display light, no display (my MS2 still on) - quickly switch off everything, and try again - still no power to his MS2. Test on my main layout connector box, still dead, however, my MS2 works on my test track and main layout connector boxes (but still v 1.81, so the update did not work), but his remains absolutely dead....any thoughts...Confused ...

My thoughts are that the MS2 simply died. Probably just coincidence that it happened during the update, but the fact there's no power on it to me shows a hardware problem not a software glitch.

If hardware just died,it should smell burn by short circuit or overload.
To me it seems software just stop function.

I would think that something crashed during the firmware update causing the ROM to be incomplete.
Probably there is no hardware fault, rather the problem is that the hardware has no firmware, and hence is unable to boot as the hardware alone is not intelleigent but needs the firmware to know what to do with the hardware.

Not a very good explanation but hopefully you understand what I am trying to say. It is the same thing with a bricked phone. Usually they can be revived depending on make and model. Your best bet is probably to visit a dealer or someone with a CS2. Maybe there is a way to revive your MS2 when hooked up to a CS2.

But the MS2 that already had 2.30 has died while the update was being transferred to another MS2 with an older version. An interruption at this stage should not harm the "sender", only the "receiver" might have an incomplete firmware.

You are correct. I totally missed the fact that the MS2 sending the firmware was the one that crashed. Blushing

My MS2 was connected to my CS-2 during the CS2 Update. Like always in the past. Then the CS2 update stalled and fired my MS2. When I plug it in to the CS2 nothing. Any ideas? Also my CS2 is acting funny as well. Two of four Loks won't move, though lights work and all my feedbacks won't work right.
