Obviously there were far too many of the normal Dm3. So now they have to be pushed into the market. The loco is very nice but also very, very special for a great number of costumers.

Yes and so crazy Cursing

Their marketing department should do a better pilot study now that all Swedish news is released on the last quarter LOL

I am really bored of this Dm3 s-h-i-t after the big blunder with 976-977-978 Mad

Obviously Marklin got the impression that this loco would sell well. Maybe there were more voices from Scandinavia asking for the Model than there were actual customers willing to buy the finished product.

Perhaps Marklin should now be more wary of producing unusual models, and stick to the tried and tested standard classes from their core area, being Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

Some of Marklin's limited edition/exclusive/etc thought processes are odd.

A few years ago I bought one of the 43473 CFL coach packs with the double decker coach and cab car. This was supposed to go with the 26538 pack.

You can't find either of them second hand, and when you do the prices are insane. Which would kind of suggest that another production run would be a big seller for minimal outlay on Marklin's part (the loco and coaches are all standard Hobby tooling). I know the tooling isn't right for the prototypes but there's clearly demand for the models regardless. By all means give them different numbers if worried about devaluing the existing models, that'd also encourage people who already own the older set to buy another.

Even another pack of a couple of coaches would probably do well. I run my 43473 with a 36853 Br.185 (there are photos of these locos with these coaches, presumably before all the dedicated locos were delivered) but the train looks a bit short.

Marklin decide to weathered on 37320 as 37323 after too much stock at factory two years ago.

Today 37323 is different to find!

I can't see the value in it, a normal DM3 costs around € 537.00 and 3 car sets around € 300.00, the set costs € 1,100.00 so why is there an increase of almost € 300.00 according to the Norwegian website

RRP for the loco €579.95, for six freight cars €179.95. That makes €939.85 for the unweathered train.

Kieskemper offers the weathered train for €999.95.

Märklin normally add €50 for the weathering. It's rare and limited and therefore the new set comes less discounted than the ordinary "clean" items.
If it's not rare enough we will see the discounts grow with this set ...

Tom

Problem with the DM3 is the lack of attention to details like the head-lights or the non prototypical shiny metalparts on the roof.

I would considder buying a DM3, but preferably in the more modern Blue-gray-red colours.
