Moved to "Collector's Corner" since these look very interesting and I think our "old-timer" experts can provide answers.

Is the OO/HO gauge?, I think it is large scale O gauge.

Hi all,

these cars are certainly 0 gauge, as can be concluded from the coupler. Fortunately they all have their article numbers written on them, i.e., 17310, out of focus, 17270, 17550, 17320. The last digit of these numbers reading "0" again proves the gauge 0.

Hi,

I don't really know about their value, but for me they look all old enough to be expensive items. Have you thought of the idea to just keep them and not sell? Great part of the history and your grandfathers old items. If you decide to sell and to get the best prices items conditions is everything. If you have still all the original boxes it also increases the selling price. All items don't look to be in mint perfect condition, but in my (and many others) opinion they are better if not restored. Old enough items with signs of use are better. Unused original ones are rare and most expensive, but sometimes used originals are more expensive than restored items. This depends of the items, their rarity and age.

I'm sure you will get more info soon from collectors.

All the best,
Janne

Hi, Tamas,

again, all the article numbers are wirtten down on the cars, although I could not spot them on the "steam" engines, which seem to be rather simple ones. On the other hand, the railcar, TWE 38930 certainly is a sought after item. Quite a lot of information about these old trains is contained in the book by Gustav Reder "Mit Uhrwerk, Dampf und Strom" (With clockwork, steam ans electricity) which is available from the Alba Verlag, Düsseldorf.

I cannot say anything about pricing, since I am not an "old gauge 0" collector.

Regards
