Hi guys,

I have looked and looked and I know that I have seen it some where in here but I can not find it.

Can anyone help me to find the old analogue system of an auto shuttle run?

For A.C. not D.C. using M track and no digital.

I remember that it was possible to find the old transformers on Ebay!

Convinsing my wife that I really do need one may be difficult but I will worry about that later. First I need to find one!!!

mike.

The 6600 cannot be used with modern digital locos. It can be used only with older analog models.

tufftuffde has one at the moment for 46 EU including postage to Oz.

Could be worth a look, guess that would come to around AU 75 Confused
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

Hi Eddie

It's not so much the track type as whether it is digital or analogue locos you plan on running.

Analogue and 6600 are fine together, no matter what track you use, M, K or C.

Hi again,
since my last post I have managed to buy a 6600 and a 6699(not from tufftuffde, I missed out!).

The 6699 is to be used as a Fine speed control and not as part of the 6600, is that correct?
It will need to have an input from another transformer and then be used in the normal way?

Plus I have a large Analouge collection of loco's with one Delta. Can I use the 6600 with the Delta or will be be best not to just in case?

I have been looking for any clues but all I have found so far are instructions on how to use the 6600, but not the 6699.

Once again thanks for any help.

At a guess assuming it is one of the early "Delta's" with the 4 piano keys if set to "Analogue" it should be safe......... that being said I would be tempted since all the plumbing is there to swap out the Delta unit for a bog stock "reversing unit".

As I am not at all familiar with either the 6600 or 6699 I would personally go for the swap it path to play it safe, of course the "kid" in me would have a go just to see what happens. Razz

I have a 6600 and used it with C-track, no problems.

The only thing I would say is not to use the contact tracks with microswitches, like 24994. I had trouble with the pickup sliders sometimes getting hung up on the contact "prongs", cutting the power and stopping the train from reversing. Once you got it going it would settle down and run reliably, but trying to fine-tune it for realistic slowing and stopping seemed to cause more problems with the sliders.

I only used it with locos fitted with a mechanical reversing relay, no Delta/Digital or even electronic reverser.

A related question: when I acquired my Dad's Marklin collection a bit over a year ago, it included a 6600 controller. Alas, since it did not have any documentation I have not even pulled it out or poked at it since I have been too busy learning far simpler and more basic aspects of building and operating a layout.

Most of what I have read concerning the 6600 is related to operating a back and forth shuttle. I have no plans for such a line on my layout. But I have seen some intriguing references pointing to the 6600's ability to allow one to schedule or time stops by stations and to have automatic control of speeds entering and exiting stations. Did I understand this properly?

The question I am really asking is what are the capabilities of the 6600, what can I do with the one I have and how would I go about doing it. I will be very excited if I can "program" stops or pauses on my analogue layout, especially since I had no idea I had the capability to do that amongst the equipment I already had.

As I have no time to either find nor even less scan my 6600 manual, have a look here TFT :

That's way cool Yum! Thanks so much.

Looks like I will be doing some experimentation here in the not too distant future.

As I understand it, the reason why you shouldn't use the 6600 to control anything with a decoder is to do with the way in which it delivers power. Rather than a plain variable AC output it delivers Pulse-Width Modulation or PWM for more precise control.

Interestingly while researching this I come across "Delta Modulation". Anything to do with Marklin picking the word "Delta" for their basic digital system?
