Hi,

I purchased a first version of Faller station Schönblick (#103) from 1953.

The model is made out of wood, except for the plastic windows, doors and newspaper kiosk.
The wooden walls are coated with 'Griesputz' (semolina plaster).
I was looking for an unrestored model like this, because the griesputz is often restored in the wrong manner.

I think the Faller stamp on the underside reveals that the model was built in 1953.
The item number '103' is in red ink. In later years, this was done in brown ink.

I think it's a nice addition to my Faller station Schönblick collection. BigGrin

The last photo is out of Faller catalog 1955.

Marco

Very nice indeed. You say "Station Schönblick Collection", does this mean that you have more editions of this model?

Hi Soren,

Yes, I have a few B-103 kits (plastic models) (see pictures).
I like to restore old Faller kits, and make from the parts of 2 or 3 poor models a really nice looking model.
Guess I contracted the Faller virus.

About the other versions of station Schönblick;

The first kit of station Schonblick was released in 1958 as B-103.
It had a plastic base, cartboard walls, a main roof of platic and the small roof made of wood.
The mix of materials (wood, plastic, cardboard) is also known as 'Gemischtbauweise'.
This 'Gemischtbauweise' B-103 kit was only produced in 1958.

From 1959, the B-103 kit came with all parts of plastic.

Lately the prices of the wooden Faller stations can go really sky high.
This Faller station Flüelen (#111) from 1953 was auctioned for € 209 by guy living in my hometown.
I was thinking of picking it up personally, but then the price was going way beyond my comfort zone, so it was a no for me this time. Crying

Hello Marco,

What an interesting collecting niche!

I do like your images - lovely examples of 1950's/60's style architecture.

Regards,

PJ

Hi Robin,

Flüelen in post #4 was sold for € 209
A good price if you consider that it was an early version (version 2), unrestored, looked good and was not damage and not missing parts.
I still regret that I didn't bought it then. Crying

I purchased a wooden Faller #103 today like the one pictured by Marco. It is complete with box and the stucco is in good shape. It is also wired for lighting. It is from a collection which includes items from the mid to late 40's. This summer I picked up some 3600 M track and four wagons (341-344)- all in lovely shape except for zinkpest in some of the wheels and cast trucks. These are my first red boxes. I speculate that the collection is from a Canadian soldier who served in the occupation forces in Germany, early post war.

Hello Michael,

I would love to see a photo of your 103.

BTW, my 103 is plastered with birdcage sand while most Faller wood models has Griessputz / semolina plaster

There are two ways you can do it. Selecting, or Drag & Drop. I will explain the 'select' method below (and assume you are using Windows)...

1: In a New message, or a reply, Click on the "Paperclip" icon in the row above the message box
2: Select "UPLOAD NEW FILE(S)"
3: Click "+ Add file(s)..."
4: Select the folder containing the image you want to attach and click on the image file, (then click "Open" to add it to the queue)
5: The file should now appear in the dialogue window. If you wish to add another, click "+ Add file(s)..." again until all images are added (normally 3-4 per message is enough)
6: Click "> Start upload(s)"

Below are the matching screen shots of these steps.... (you might find it easier to print these steps to refer to so you can keep your screen clear)

1: Click on the "Paperclip" icon in the row above the message reply

2: Select "UPLOAD NEW FILE(S)"

1-Attach.jpg

3: Click "+ Add file(s)..."

2-AddFiles.jpg

4: Select the folder containing the image you want to attach and click on the image file, (then click "Open" to add it to the queue)

3-SelectFile.jpg

5: The file should now appear in the dialogue window. If you wish to add another, click "+ Add file(s)..." again until all images are added (normally 3-4 per message is enough)

Hello Mike,

Very nice, great that you have the original carton box.

Your #103 als has the same pale green color and is plastered with birdcage sand (while most Faller wood models has Griessputz / semolina plaster) just as mine.
The pale green birdcage sand model is more rare than the white griessputz one.
