Just have a look in the shops. They've already been selling swimwear and beach stuff for a couple of months!

In a few weeks we'll be back to Christmas again! BigGrin

Hi all,

Almost traditionally, the Dutch Märklin website brings the first announcements of new items. And, it is the same this time, as four new Dutch cars have just been announced as a first part of the Summer New Items: http://www.marklin.nl/ni.../nederlands-zomernieuws/

Now, the wait is on for more (hopefully Era I) news... :)

Cheers,
Sander

No, not really.

My guess is that they are scurrying around for some FPMs and reprinting the brochures with the higher price to match.
But that's just my cynical view. And stuff.

I am hoping for another Blue Box replica to continue the series..........

But 30080 and 00766 tinplate coaches were massively overproduced and are still being cleared at knockdown prices. So who knows.

Then again, last years Blue Box was the MHI only 30301 and 40301 SJ sets and they seemed to sell out with little discounting.

Nethertheless, I'm hoping for some blue box re-editions.

I think both are needed to keep the business alive. Without the bulk sales to Supermarkets and department stores there won't be enough money to keep up the momentum of so many new models every year. The "high quality, high specification" market is smaller but keeps the brand at the sharp end of model rail technology.

One cannot exist without the other and keep the company where it is today.

That's a shame, I usually find something interesting to buy from the Summer new items.

Instead I'll have another look at the new items for 2014 and see if I might add something from there.

they had better meet orders and deliver ...some of the 2013 models .
They give the impression of being overwhelmed.
...inertia..., delays...,....
With the demolition of the Gyor plant and transfer into a new building not yet built ...
...I get asked a lot of questions about their strategy.
In addition, their communication is ...poor.
After all, it's none of my business...I just would like Marklin amaze me like they did still a decade ago....actually they don't.

I think this what they are trying to achieve: You are still spending your money on Märklin, but they can save the costs for new tooling, costs for the brochure etc.

And I am perfectly fine with this: The new items for 2014 already is a massive list and most people should be able to find something interesting. If not, save the money for next year.

best regards
Jörg

Hi all,

Interesting to hear the news that we will not see any news shortly. Surprisingly, Märklin Netherlands - again - announced a new item: http://www.marklin.nl/nieuws/6400-duo/
Seems like Märklin is offering Summer New Items without that specific label, but more locally focussed.

Kind regards,
Sander

164 items from the 2013 new items and 211 Items from the 2014 new items.

Marklin do not need the Summer new items because 47 items more that last year.

Nah, not really! Although I like F7's, I'd prefer something different like a 30470 Br44 or a 30390 E10!

I would prefer another US based loco, like a Dash 9-40 or a SD70 :-)

These have never been made by Marklin, so a "Blue Box" model would not be appropriate.

Perhaps an all new model of another US loco might be popular. Marklin seems to have produced a few different ones in the last 10-15 years (Alco PA, Big Boy, Mikado, GG1), after decades of only producing the F7.

Thanks for mentioning the Alco PA... I wasn't sure about that model and after googling it, I'm about to buy a 37610 on ebay ^.^
