Sunday 17 March saw my Class 1E on the track in completed form for the first time, it runs on a track gauge of 184 mm, is 2100 mm long and has a Bo-Bo wheel arrangement. It is powered by four 24 Volt 300 watt permanent magnet DC motors, one on each axle, it has a reduction ratio of ten to one which provides a top speed of 15km/h. The reduction is by toothed rubber (timing) belts and pulley's which makes it run very quiet, and develops a tremendous pull at the draw bar.

Hannes, dit is net te pragtig. I went to school with a chap in Johannesburg whose father surname "Walker" owned an engineering shop called "Arban engineering" & he built SAR steam replica locos in his spare time. They weighed about a ton & were absolute working steam scale replicas of the steam locos around the 1975 era. I can only applaud you for your efforts.
