Hi all.
I got a hold of a bunch of older Marklin HO stuff, bits and pieces. I'de like to know more about some of the stuff. I have 2 figures in a sealed marked, Marklin bag, I think they are HO gauge. Can anyone tell me more ??

I also have these 2 plastic Coke pieces. One is a plastic tree of cases, the other bottles. I think they are HO gauge, they have numbers on them, the cases have the number 902-00544, the bottles, 903.00544. I'de like to know who made them, what they are for ?
Many Thanks, Ted

Now that I really look at them, they are Bier bottles. I thought they had the classic "Coke" shape !!

The figures look like the engineers included with 3099 (BR38). I am not sure if this is correct though, as I'm not sure if 3099 came with protection rods (my thinking is it did not).

The figures came with both Wurtemburg lokos (class C and K) and I think all versions. My era 3 class C and K included them with the loko. They originate with the 3511 class C from about 1988.

With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

The two figures were also included in the 50th Anniversary set #0050 from 1985, with the double replica train set with loco's R 700.10 en RS 700.10.

Maybe the bottles are from the Faller Beer factory, item # 130979

Hi Marco all,

Those are Preiser figures,a long time in the catalog.

>Maybe the bottles are from the Faller Beer factory, item # 130979<

Maybe but Preiser offered a set like this,...

And also in recent models such as the 36242 BR 24.

Assuming the Marklin bag for the figures is original we can make these assumptions:

The bag tells us:

-The bag is stamped "Made in West Germany". I am not sure exactly when this practice ended for Marklin, but I believe it was mostly pre-reunification (70s/80s/early 90s).

The inclusion of protective rods tells us:

-This set came with a loco
-It would have come with a detailed loco that allowed for protective rods
-It would have been issues in the 80s/early 90s, as I do not think any 70s tooling locos came with protective rods.

I think based on the criteria above, Wurt class C or K locomotives would be the best candidates as suggested by Matt. Although, Marco's date also fits the bill, I am not sure if 0050 had any small parts like protective rods, unless these were included simply because the figures were always packaged with protective rods (easier than making two sets, with and without rods?). As Kevin has suggested the figures were made by Preiser for Marklin.

As far as the beer bottles, I believe they are from Preiser 17105 (see here:http://www.modellbahnshop-lippe...gatt-gb-p-0/produkt.html)

Is the subtle message here that two railway staff were given 90 bottles of beer each to last an average trip of about 200km? Blink

Like Brandon, I do not think it is from set 0050. Figures were included with the set and they might have been the same figures, but 0050 has two small pockets molded into the package, one for each figure. I do not think then they would be bagged together. The rod covers also help eliminate 0050.
