Saw the film "The Book Thief" yesterday, and it includes a couple of scenes with steam locos. Does anyone know what classes of locos were used?

The film wasn't released in Germany yet (but it was filmed in Germany).

I think the loco number starts with 58 (I only saw one loco in the trailer). Loco 58 311 is operational and was used for that film (but I don't know if it is the only loco used).
Regards
Tom

I can confirm the loco was 58 311 as Tom wrote.

BR58 311 is 92 years old and has 1540 horsepower under the boiler. However, despite their advanced age, the freight train steam locomotive Münsingen has now come to Hollywood movie honors. This required the Baden G 12 with the train number "58 311" wheeze adventurously in three days to a force of the Swabian Alb towards Berlin.
The U.S. production company 20th Century Fox is currently shooting in Germany the movie "The Book Thief" ("The Book Thief") from the novel by Markus Zusak. Included are, among others, Geoffrey Rush ("Pirates of the Caribbean"), Emily Watson ("Breaking the Waves") and Heike Makatsch ("Hilde").
We chat with Simon Niemann of the SAB on the spectacular journey of Münsingen to Berlin. He also provides information on the locomotive "58 311"
