Hi Mehmet,

Very kind of you to have kids running trains on your beautiful layout Smile . When I was at his age (12) I was weekly in one train club here in Finland. There was only Märklin and we were running trains according to time schedules. We could also "achieve" some jobs like station manager, locomotive heater or driver. Heaters were watching and learning how locomotive drivers were driving. It was really good fun! Your video brings me nice memories from those times. I can remember how I was Drool for some heavy weight full metal Märklin steam loomotives back then as I had only two small plastic body steamers. Then I bought from there my first locomotive with lights. It was Märklin 3077 rail Zeppelin and it was VERY fast!

Cheers,
Janne

Hi Janne,

I think that you can understand Hakan more than anyone of us since you had a similar experience in the club in Finland in your childhood....I also had an experience but a bad one....I think I was eight or nine....I touched an adult's loco and was kicked out of the room.....but that loco, later, became my first loco.....DB 44 690....Love

Almost with the same age 9~10, I barely remember (but my father remember it at all), I don't know exactly in which circumstances I power on all lamps of our layout at 220V -- all lamps are for 110V (with downsizing for 12V or so)...
Of course all lamps in the layout burned... My father was very, but very upset, that put me grounded for several days without put a finger at the trains...

Today he is a little remorseful and understand that at the time I was just a child, trying to understand how all that things works...

Unfortunately that layout was sold to a neighboor, since we moved from one city to another and can't take the board together...

Stories... Stories... Cool

Cheers,

Walter

Confused Confused Confused ThumpUp BigGrin

Thank you very much to all of you. Before filming this video I was really excited. While playing the trains, I was thinking very hard which loco to start, which signal to use. But then with help of Mehmet I managed. I am very thankful to Mehmet. And in the soonest time I will try to dispatch eight trains. But I know this will not be very easy and I am a bit worried about it.Confused Confused ThumpUp BigGrin

Yes. He is. RollEyes

We sold that layout in ~1986... Somewhere in time after 16 years (~2002), we called that neighboor asking for the board, trains, etc., so we maybe re-buy from him... He told us that his kids never had so much interest on trains and he had sell it already years before...

After we restarted to build a new layout in 2008 (the current one), I saw in a local auction site some old passengers wagons and 2 'DIY' high voltage towers. I recognized it immediately as that ones my father had builded to our old layout. Since he builded from scratch, isn't that possible someone had builded one even similar... the only difference was that the owner put a blinking LED on the top.

Of course I won that auction, and the towers returned to us almost 20 years after. Unfortunately the wagons was gone to another bidder... I was resigned in that case because the märklins I could buy another ones since are all the same, but the towers are unique.

Hi mehmet,

Just today (about 10.30 a.m.) I received from MSL some Märklin Insider items: 37455 (BR 45 Steam Locomotive), 46081 (Freight Car Set), 48163 (Annual Car 2013) and English catalog.

The family is growing up…

Cheers
