This past weekend we held our annual Railex Model Railway exhibition. The exhibition is organised by 3 local MRR clubs, including ours.

UserPostedImage

The show was held over Saturday and Sunday and a steady stream of people came through on both days (although perhaps not as many as previous years). Our club's Istein Gauge 1 layout can be seen in the foreground....

UserPostedImage

....and the club's H0 layout is under the Märklin sign on the right. Toottoot, the NZ Märklin dealer was situated between our two layouts, not good for our pockets!

Our club's H0 layout is called "Bergtalbahn" (see https://www.marklin-user...s&t=26282#post396238 for more information). It has recently had a new module inserted around the station area, which makes for some fairly long trains. Total layout length is around 9m.

Here you can see some shots of the new module. Note the forest between the factory and church. The trees were hand made and planted by one of our newest members, a 14 year old boy. I think he's done a fantastic job.

Scratchbuilt models of Wellington Suburban trains.

The two on the left (blue and red trains) are of the recently retired English Electric 'Cyclops' trains. The middle train is a Ganz Mavang unit introduced in 1983 and still in use. The train on the right is the new 'Matangi' EMU units introduced in 2012.

Can I charge you appearance fees, I've been snapped! (twice!) BigGrin

What you can't see is what we are holding in our hands courtesy of Toottoot... I'll put photos up when I get it set up!
(A clue: It was inspired by what was in one of the other photos, and it's not very big! RollEyes)

Did you buy the Z Gauge starter set that Toottoot had?

You caught us again! We found a nice HO V90 that we were tempted with. My grandfather then spotted the Z set (he loves the bath tub tenders) and was hooked. We have a new project for the summer!

Ah, I wondered who bought it! I had been looking at those sets on ebay, so was interested (interested as in being interested to see it, not being interested in buying it) in it, and intrigued to see that someone had bought it.

I didn't think about buying the set because on Friday night when Dion and Bryan first arrived and set up, I spotted a mint 39700 TEE RAm railcar, which Dion had sold from new to a customer who had since passed away. Dion had purchased the customer's collection back, so I was lucky to be able to purchase it. Dion had also previously upgraded the railcar to full sound - he replaced the original C-Sine motor with DCM parts and added a Loksound (3.5 I think) decoder. It runs very quiet (motor noise wise) - probably as quiet as a C-Sine motor would run. Dion told me he spent a lot of time making it quiet, so a very good score for me.

It was a sense of deja vue for me, as my 37772 SVT137 was also purchased from a previous customer of Dion's who passed away - our Marklin Club purchased the collection, from whom I purchased the 37772.

I'll take some pictures of the 39700 and post them.

The Toottoot (NZ Marklin dealer) stand did well with a steady stream of people looking and buying stuff. Here, Bryan 'Oldtoot' the 'Killer Salesman' (in the pink shirt) lines up a prospective customer.

Yes Stephen, it is a 55103 Gauge 1 BR 103 - (from the Marklin product database) "The 55103 electric locomotive is being produced in 2008 in a one-time series only for Insider members."
