I would love to see one in real life.

It is pulling Austrian OBB coaches, so maybe next time we are in Austria.....

Thanks for posting this! ThumpUp This loco type is the last one (newest most modern) that I like. All newer are not for me... I like especially it's round aerodynamic shape and it still has it's own "personality" with nice small round lights etc. New electric locos are faster, stronger and has less coefficient of drag = better aerodynamic, but they have lost their "personality". In my loco colllection this model is the newest loco type I think.

Cheers,
Janne

Hi Ashley

They have a 103 in the museum at Neustadt an der Wienstrasse. It is not in TEE colours though.

I think there are four or five operational.
And quite a few have been preserved (German site):
German Wikipedia

103 113 was already out of service, but she came back. There always were some class 103 locos in service.
But no operational 103.0 locos (former E 03, the four pre-series locos).

My 3357 also has the number 103 113 - and it has the simplified paint scheme the prototype loco still has.

103 113 is a special number for Märklin fans as Märklin made so many models of here.

When I first saw the picture I thought it was cool the Bahn is running a nice 103, when I read the number I could not believe it still lives, 113 is a favorite locomotive of mine and for many Märklin fans.

I also spotted this photo taken in June of another nice 103 survivor, this one painted like Ray's, also with IC 118.

One can't help wondering if the reason #113 is rolling on the tracks again in its original paint scheme is the fact that it is a ubiquitous and popular Marklin model. Life imitates art.

A "thank you" does not override the copyright. I don't want to see my photos spreaded throughout the internet.
railpictures.net usage policy says clearly:

Please remove the direct links and add links to the photo pages instead.

One has to respect the rules....

It is a shame though, as I do like to enjoy a nice photo on the forum, but rarely go to the trouble of clicking on a link to an external website.

I have not posted here any photos from railpictures.net, but in case I am tempted I will delete the bookmark in my Favourites so that I don't visit that website again.

Those who posted pictures directly should remove them, or maybe the Webmaster can intervene?

While we will respect your wishes Christian, I will point out that once you post something on the internet (especially photos), then it is most likely that folks will copy them or save a copy on their PC, or link to them.

In this case, '3rail4life' hasn't copied your picture off the Railfan site and posted it here, rather he has linked to the original Railfan photo location and displayed it within this thread using the forum image tags ([img]).

Correct.
But RailPictures.Net do not want people to do this.

IANAL but IMHO it is not illegal to ignore their wish. But some people will find this behaviour unfriendly. Christian does.

Märklin implemented a technical solution against deep links to their images.
RailPictures.Net did not (yet).

Link now not working directly to Mr Zell's pic, now embedded in a code segment so you can copy/paste into your browser instead.

So - no direct link connection from the forum now to the particular pic, and I hope this is acceptable also for the railpictures.net owners/contributors.
If this is not acceptable, then I don't really know the logic behind it - except that maybe railpictures.net are "click hungry" for their
album home page for statistics or advertisement revenue reasons...

This site (marklin-users.net) is totally non-commercial and does not make any money by scavenging other sites for popularity.
This site is dependent of voluntary visitor donations only to support the site running costs. Our aim is to serve the world with
information that is interesting for train hobbyists, and then particularly Märklin model railroaders - but everyone is welcome here.

Yes, I realised that, but couldn't find the 'Link to this photo:' they suggest should be associated with each photo as stated on http://www.railpictures.net/usage/

Thanks to Juhan, listing the link as code that can be copied and pasted is probably the best solution under the circumstances.

Thank you for this quick reaction. I guess RP doesn't want this, because their traffic is used with the direct links.
And as I mentioned, I like to have control about where my pictures are visible. I know the problem of image theft, it's the main reason why I only show a small part of my photos online.

As I live here, where the class 103 is back in plan service, I will show some photos hosted on my own webspace.

First run in the new plan scheme, 25th April 2013, taken near Bingen in the middle rhine valley. 103 235 pulls german IC cars because the austrian train had an accident a few hours before and this is the replacement connection.
UserPostedImage

Passing Boppard at the 16th February 2014 under dark clouds.
UserPostedImage

Well, usually you're not alone, as the photographers come from all over the world to see the class 103 (Koblenz, 17th February 2014):
UserPostedImage

Due to their age, the engines break down quite often. At the 31th May 2014, a class 115 had to pull the whole train:
UserPostedImage

One of my favourites, leaving the Banktunnel near St Goar (7th June 2014):
UserPostedImage

In Koblenz exists the "DB museum", the official railway museum of Germany. Two class 103s are stored there, both in rare paint schemes. 103 233 was the only engine painted in traffic-red, the newest colour of the german railway. 103 220 still wears an old livery, advertising a tourist train of the former Bundesbahn (and, as seen by the logo on the front, later the DB AG).
UserPostedImage

A beautiful region to live in, not only because of the landscape. Two class 103s a day, a long time after their official decommissioning, are very cool.

Regards,
Christian

PS: I think RP wants it like this: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=493495

Hi Christian

Thank you for the photos.ThumpUp

Wasn't the 103 in the blue and yellow in the Neustadt an der Weinstrasse museum for a while.

Back in 09 I recall seeing either that one or another in the same livery there.

That's right, it's the same engine. It was pulled to Koblenz this year.

Just testing link

Link to pic of 103

Direct to the exposed picture URL from railpictures.net from the above link...

So I presume many pics are directly downloaded by 103:er fans, or fans of the other great albums there...
At least the copyright info is still there, but that can be easily snipped away since it's at the edges...

The first link is what RP wants us to do, the direct photo embedding is not allowed (or at least not wished) by them.

That changes nothing about the copyright (not the copyright hint, but the law)...
