Hi, I have a Marklin H0 tender in very good condition. It looks like it is for an R700 or R800 loco. It has a nickel silver BK coupling and not a KK type. How can I identify which loco it is for?

I have added two pictures to this post.

Thanks, Peter B.

The tender comes from a R 800 locomotive, produced between 1940-1942

Excellent condition, I must say....
Is it maybe "restored"?

Looks all original to me....

I'd only be concerned that the red paint along the skirt is retouched but doesn't look like it from the photos...

Hi,

The number of surviving good or very good tenders exceeds the number of surviving locomotives by factors. When the loco is destroyed by the Zincpest the tender is still in good condition. So normally nobody restores tenders for these locomotives.

It is not restored.

It came to me recently with a load of other H0 and 0 gauge Marklin that was originally shipped back to the US in the late 40s by a US serviceman stationed in Germany when and after WWII ended. It was all purchased at a PX. The R800 loco disappeared a couple of decades ago. It has been stored in a climate a controlled closet since 1986. Now I have it. Most of the items are from the late 1930s with a few from 1946-47.

I do not have an R800 loco so may put the tender up for sale.

Regards to all.

Excellent story...it's a very common story to here in the US and that's why I seem so many items from the 30s and 40s here. Especially from right after the war.

Juhan was expressing a good concern for restoration...you would be surprised the kind of restoration work done on these pieces using the original tools and forms....it is very common in Germany....almost all items over there are restored in some way because they were almost all "played with"

Best regards,

Paul

I just posted this for sale on eBid, not ePay.

Here is a link, it should work.

this tender is worth more than 39.95 US$ and i think it would be advisable to either put it on ebay Germany as there are many more hunters for these tenders.
I would put a fixed price on it by just converting Euros into US$ with the below German ebay website R 800 tenders

http://www.ebay.de/sch/i...;_sacat=0&_from=R40,

you may pay less on charges by ebid but you could loose much more by advertising it for this price.

Hi John,

Three of the six comparable tenders were sold below $39.95 last month on ebay - Germany. The "buy it now" - offers are very often far from truth on Ebay Germany.

Markus

Hi Markus and John et al. I went to that page and ticked the SOLD box and came up with a list of them with prices ranging from 15 to 50 Euros. Just because some unsold ones are listed much higher, that does not mean they will sell at higher prices. The market is fickle.

Best regards to all.
