I see a fairly nice 3310 on ebay. It's been converted to digital with the addition of an fx decoder. Will my old original Intellibox run this fx decoder? My Intellibox will definitely run Märklin Motorola and DCC simultaneously. I just don't know about fx.
Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom,
FX is just Marklin Motorola 2. It was an extension to MM to allow another 4 functions as well as the light function (f0).
As far as I know the Intellibox did everything a Marklin 6021 could do, and more, so I don't see why there should be a problem. |

The original IB controls the fx locos very well. Try to use the Motorola "new" with 27 speed steps to gain optimum speed control. If it has sound, 4 sound functions are usually at the address after the "drive & lights & F1-F4" address.
You can have IB to read the CV's of the decoder to get the "second address" if there is sound aboard. Don't remember the CV number at the moment...
I have the 37540 fx w sound - with 2 addresses in sequence, and that works great with the IB. |

First generation of fx decoders supported 27 speed steps with MM protocol (but it does support MM new which is required for fx decoders). Later versions had 28 speed steps. Current versions have 14 speed steps. If the loco was converted with a 60760, there will be 14 speed steps only. |
