Hello
this is my first try to paint a loco. Its a V36 from Marklin. the loco had a complete blue shell so i painted the hand rails, the ladder and the front hang on rails ( black and yellow) weathered the roof but not real happy with that so i have to work on it again. ( just was at the NMRA in Grand Rapids and found great weathering product= panpastel)

Here the picture

Also what you guys think about the railroad track? i try to weather the c-track, soon working on the ballast too

Arno

Hi Arno,

The loco looks great. I have done as you have, and applied rust acrylic paint to my C track rails. It really does make it look more authentic.
I used this, http://www.joesmodeltrai...ty%20Rails%20Painter.htm
I have seen some very good results with ballasting C Track.

Cheers,
Brian.

Looks good! ThumpUp

I prefer to keep my locos pristine, but I can appreciate the effort.

The track looks very good too!

It looks good. The only addition I would make is more dust below the running boards, on the frames and the wheels ect, and some more dust on the steps.

Congrats on the great job.

Hello Arno,

I don't know if you realise that your V36 Lok is from the reasonably sought after M28631 VW Transporter Set. I have the Set, as I like Car Sets Wink
Do you have the rest of the set ? I will leave mine as is, but as it is Delta I will probably upgrade it with a Marklin Digital Decoder disgarded from an upgrade to sounds, failing that a V4 lokpilot Smile Anyhow enjoy your experimenting, but don't ruin the Lok Scared

Hello Glen

yes i know this. I have the complete set. I have also the other three car sets for it. The 46132,46133,46134. Do you have them too? I like them, they look awesome.

I don't want to ruin the loco. The good part is i can wash it off and then it is original again. I upgraded it also to a HLA motor. Now it runs great! On my MS2 i just have a third of the first bar and it moves very slow.
I don't want it to weather it to much but i found a picture of a blue V36 from the front and it showed that it had the handrails and the ladder in black and the hand rails to get up on the front steps were black with yellow.
so i thought that would probably look good.

Greetings
Arno

Hallo Arno,
I have the 46132 Set I bought at the same time, from the same vendor, on our local Trade Me (ebay clone)

I also have 46133 x 2 but the 46134, failed to "insite" me, and I didn't think they belonged with the V Dubs Confused

I am pleased you have the Set/s so you know what you've got your hands on, and more pleased your using water colours, just in case Wink Scared

edit 11/3/12; Just found set 46122 in the colection as well which has Ford Taunus 17m Cars Blushing Wink

Beautiful weathering job and lovely car set!
Would love to see close up pics or a small video.

You have the approval of the art critic Wink
I want to try using removable pastel too.

Will see if I can find some at the train expo tomorrow.

Arno,

I like the job you did on both the loco and the track. The Panpastel stuff that you mentioned...does it come off on when handling the loco? I have used pastels before and it leaves a oily, dusty residue.

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary
for the loco i used acrylic paint from the hobby lobby shop. It comes of very easy with water. I didn't try the pan pastel yet to much. Lately i was more involved to fix a couple of my locos from analog to digital.
@ Mark
i saw on a show the people from pan pastel and it looked very good. Did you found any?

Arno

Harno Great job weathering!BigGrin One of the things that the NMRA folks say is that track is a model also so it needs to be weathered to look realistic. I love what you have done with the c track. See this old thread about ballast!

I love the weathering job on that loco and on the track. I feel that the track weathering makes the loco model look much more realistic.
