Neil, is this what you are looking for: http://www.ebay.com/itm/...-Crane-HTF-/120897658420 ? This will also work: Märklin Control Box 97279 in newer grey box. Edited by user 28 April 2012 09:34:33(UTC)

Hi Neil, The early version came with a pair of switches like these (one of each). But they had special stickers and were numbered 474/51 and 475/51. But there is no technical difference. Regards Markus

Does anyone know if the mechanisms and gearboxes on the early 451 G cranes are the same as the later 70** series ?
Can the drive parts on later versions be swapped over and used for donor parts on early versions if needed ?.
They are well engineered inside.
Neil.

Hi Neil,
Yes, the drive parts of the 7072 would fit mechanical also in the early version. But in detail a 1950s part every-time looks a little bit different from the later ones. Due to historic reasons I would avoid to mix up new parts in an old crane. It is always cheaper to buy a model in good working condition than restoring one.
Regards
Markus

I gather you can use the 7072 control boxes as well, which would be a lot cheaper, perhaps someone could explain how this is done? |

Hi Geoff, Yes, this can be done, but you need an additional control - box 7210. The functions "up/down" and "rotate" must be connected to the 7072, the magnet and the light (these are two functions at early cranes) to the 7210. Regards Markus

Hello Neil, for the cran 451 G you need two control panels, panel 474/51 for "turn left", "turn rigt", "up" and "down" and panel 475/51 for light und magnetic funtions. Regards Wolf
