I could ask: Where is the layout, and where is the reality? Or vice-versa... Is the reality a layout, and the layout is the real world?
Great perspective shots!

Hi all,
I heard today that also Kenya got some snow yesterday, but it melted immediately as there was not minus degrees
. We have snow in Finland, but it is melting as the weather forecast for the next ten days is only plus degrees. I have been skiing only once in this winter...

Hi again,
You have so much snow there you should have winter tires in your cars. How is the traffic? No big traffic catastrophys yet?
Cheers,
Janne

Hi Janne,
Since we are not used to snow and this kind of weather conditions, accidents and injuries are inevitable for us....for example on Wednesday there was an accident involving about 60 vehicles....
all the vehicles are supposed to use winter tyres from November to April...but I cannot be sure of this
The following photos were taken on the 18th Feb...
Bosphorus Bridge(from Europe to Asia)
the main street near my train house....
the road of my train house...
my garden...
another road near my train house....
me....
Cheers,

Very nice pics. Snow is a rarity here except in Himalayas and few parts of north India.
Does it snow so much even though you are so close to the sea? Also do you feel any weather difference in the Asian and European part of the City? Pardon my ignorance here.

Madhu

Hi Madhu,
Actually we do not have cold winters, but some years we get two or three times snow here. The weather is usually mild in Istanbul. And we do not feel any difference in Asia or Europe....except the traffic....in European side it is terrible...
Warm greetings from Istanbul...

Hi Janne,
I had given the number in order not to give any troubles to anyone...
but you counted them anyway...
Sooner or later we will all get dementia or whatever is so called...
but my present problem if a I take a wagon or a loco from a shelf, I forget to put it back the same place....in the near future every item will have a original place ....
But I have long way to go ....about 400 locos and 3000 wagons are waiting....
Cheers,
mehmet

Hi Mehmet,
can you tell the story of every item you have without reffering any records? Do you remember, may be just approximately, when and how every loco or wagon was purchased?
Cheers, Andrey
PS. Croco collection visible on the pic with two nice faces is fascinating.

Hi Andrey,
Well this a very hard question....to remember something about each item...all of them mean for me a lot...I wish I had kept a diary or something like that but I did not think of it, which I have always regretted...but you see I started my journey with trains in the early 70s and I could not buy many things until 2000 because of various reasons such as place, money, time etc. I have made 53 visits to Germany in the last 15 years...In the beginning I attacked every single item as if I had come out of the Sahara Desert...now I have 407 locos and nearly 3000 wagons in my collection..I am sure you will also appreciate my situation...but the Mak Diesels in the loco The Raillion and the other NS Cargo were purcahsed in Dortmund in 2015... The Red Swiss and the yellow green NS were purchased in SMDV shop in Stuttgart 2001....
Thanks for your interest....and warm greetings from Istanbul....
Cheers,
mehmet

Mehmet, may be it is worth to think about special Marklinistanbul loco... or wagon... or at least special sticker to loco or wagon.
BTW for me Marklinistambul is associated with BR 50s, I don't know why... But of course it would be reasonable to use simpler models as a special loco.
Thank you so much for greetings from Istanbul!
All the best from Moscow, Andrey

Hi Andrey,
Marklinistanbul loco or wagon is really a fancy idea...but I must admit it is very hard to choose ONE...
Who knows something might happen to help me to
choose...
Cheers,
mehmet

Again, Excellent. Mehmet, you should contact the Turkish Railway. Perhaps they will use you to test future Lok drivers? Peter
