Steven great set. I have a couple questions, is this a newly released set or something that has been out there for a while? And second, with regard to the New York Central Croc, is that an engine based on a prototype or simply wishful thinking by Marklin.

Again, great looking set.

Chris

Thanks, Chris.

The 31859 set is production only in 2009 making total 1859 set for 150 years of Marklin, Very hard to find the complete set today.

I cannot find prototype information on white crocodile.

The prototype information can be found in the product database: "1 white version lettered for the New York Central Lines, based on a hand sample produced by Märklin as a unique item in the Thirties for the USA"

It was a 0 gauge crocodile they made in the '30s - a special model ordered by a dealer in the states. If I understand the text correctly, they made a few white 0 gauge crocodiles in the '30s (all for one order from that dealer).

Tom

Happy customer of Roco, Piko, Fleischmann, ESU, Brawa, Liliput, Rivarossi, Lima, ... - and will happily continue to buy locos that run well out of the box. I'm also happy with 95% of my Märklin items, but will avoid a few cost-optimized items made 2011 or later.

Stephen,

The pictures I have previously seen for the 37938 made it look like the loco was going to be more green in color. However your photos make it appear browner, maybe olive drab. Is this correct?? I really like the color as it appears in your photos, if the color is coming through correctly. Now if I could only afford it!! I have bought too many trains this year already!! LOL!!

Fantastic, Stephen! ThumpUp

Sometimes I can't accept various colors on the model, like on 37049 BR 50.40, but this BR 01 is simply awesome! Drool

Looking at catalog number (39019) I thought that only one number has left (39018) for the future BR 01s. Then Maerklin has to start new series...

Nice Loco Steve ThumpUp I have one of those as well, it seems to be a bit of a light puller compared to my older 3048, but then that could be the stiff wheels of the coaches and the 3048 does seem heavier. I do like it though, may have to see about adding some weight or somethingWoot

If it's old and broken, I like it
