Hi Stephen,

You got me thinking, how many solid rail track sections do I have.

So, got out all the boxes, I don't generally count any of the Märklin I buy, not even the number of Loco's I've got.

Right so this is solid center rail M track, I didn't count the straights or curves as there is plenty.

1935 to 1940..(16 sleeper track)...3 manual points.

1947 to 1955..26 electric points, 5 electric crossovers and 6 manual points.

The 1935 track differs from the rest, the screw holes are in a different position and there is no cutouts in the base of the track.

I have enough of this first year of M track to form a good sized circle.

Ian.

Hi all,

Well, here they are, 10 of the 3700 large radius curves, and worth the 4 months of searching for them.

For track that's around 60 years old they came boxed and in wonderful condition.

Those old tracks look grand, Ian.

I have some M-track, I think the oldest ones are from 1958 (straight and curves only, pukos and the screw holes further in from the track end than the newer ones).

I havn't used them for a while.

Hi Ian,

I bought in the shop several years ago two of these signals.

The Marklin catalog number is 7050 and it is suitable for H0 gauge.

The box includes the signal and one 1/2 length (90 mm) contact track with one rail isolated, so the signal is connected to the isolated rail and when the wheels close the contact between the two rails the light is lit (the same principle used to operate the electromagnetic railroad crossing).

The box is made of brown cardboard, so I think the production date is around the 50's.

Cheers

Renato

Hi Ian and Renato.

I'm still amazed with old Marklin technology and inventivity.
(though, if I used them, I'd bury their feet in the layout ground...)

Great items ThumpUp

Hi all,

Couple of photo's of my latest purchase, a 467 Bridge with a hand written date of 1937.

The track on the bridge is 16 sleeper and the 2 screw holes are in the same position as on 1935 track, in the middle and on the outside of the track rails.

Hi Nev,

Thanks, took those photo's showing the "new" crossing lights I got.

My collection of 1930's to 50's Märklin is slowly growing, but still no Loco's.

Any progress to report on your layout this week?

Hi Ian,

I have a set of those crossing lights. They are meant to work with a contact track so that they "flash" as a train goes over the crossing. Very primitive, but it works! At one time I had them connected in that way on my old M track layout.

Yes thats correct, I've got one of the contact tracks, on the look out for another couple.

I haven't tried them to see how they will operate.

Hi all,

Here's some photo's of my latest tinplate wagens, 372,364 and 382.

As you can see there not in good condition (you need to check the prices some of them are going for on e-bay...100 euro's+ each).

Even in this condition I consider them a bit of a bargain. (5 euro's including postage each.)

As you can see the banana van needs a roof, and also in one of the photo's I lifted the wagen off the track to let you see the condition of the wheels.

So maybe, some help with locating wheels for this age of van.Smile

Ian,

Great looking wagons !

Am just now in the process of running after a 364 ... hope I can land it.

The wheels on the banana van look cracked ?

Bit o work needed, no doubt. Smile

Hi Yum,

Yes, the wheels on the banana van 382, are very badly cracked (won't run on the track) and the 372 is going the same way.

Other than that and of course a roof for the 382 they are in not to bad a condition.

Hi Mike,

Just a little work between friends Smile .

Jacques has already kindly provided a contact for the wheels, although I'm not sure yet which ones to get (size), and then just a roof.

Job done....if only. Wink

Hi all,

Bought myself some more 1935 to 1940 track (16 sleeper) last week, over 50 pieces in total.

Again I was lucky in that nearly half the track is from 1935...securing screw holes together on outer sides of the rails

Hi bryan,

To be honest, I've probably bought more of the track than I'll be able to use already as the proposed layout will not be that big.

With only a couple of weeks to go to the longest day, we've not had much summer weather (not that we're used to much anyway), back in April we had a spell of good sunshine but not alot since then.

Compared to what you guys have been through, there's no way I'm complaining, this is just how our summers are.

I just got the water supply fitted to the Samsung Fridge/freezer this afternoon in the extension, so that's another little job done.

Hopefully end of July will be house warming party, you'd be more than welcome to drop by.ThumpUp

Hi all,

Have you noticed that the bicycle logo's are in different positions.

Does this help tell us which is the older wagon.

Hmmm,

According to Bigio's site : Bigio

The 366NK.6, /7 and /8 ... the Märklin logo was below the crank ...

... the 366NK.9 and /10 .. logo was shifted behind it ...

So, your left wagon is prolly older ^^, doesn't have rear railing either ..

Hi all,

I know, before you start, it's not made by Märklin, but it sure looks good and it is a 10 ton crane.

Came with it's own box and a very good e-bay price.Smile

Ian.

Hi all,

Since my Märklin clockwork track will (eventually) be part of my overall Münstertal layout, more info very soon on this, here's some photo's of my R950 enjoying some of our summer weather.

Ian.
