I've got it! I've got it!LOL My brand-new #4509 banana wagon from the late Fifties to add to the other five of my collection in not-so-new condition.Flapper This one appears never to have been used (judging by roof, decals and wheels), in its original box, and priced. A lucky find on eBay. Apparently because they number so many, few collectors bother paying much attention to them. As it turns out, this banana car got picked up for only two-thirds what would have been paid in 1960 using today's dollars. That is to say: there are still some really great bargains out there for those with patience.

We're well on our way to turning this forum into a banana republic. "¡Viva la revolución!" Cool

Hi John,

B1 came up with the idea 1 year ago, keep showing photo's of the same vans, no one will know.

We've only got 8 vans....honest.

I didn't realise this was the 1st of April....honest.

No it's part of a clever plan to buy up all the banana wagons and make them rare on the market so that their price goes up.. When they get to $200 per wagon he will sell one per month... Crying Crying

Be afraid... This will be bigger than the great tulip economy.. Crying Crying

What he doesn't know is that I am holding out on the last wagon of them all for the modest sum of $199,000... <Sinister laugh activated> <Sinister laugh echos in the distance> Flapper Flapper Flapper

Do not believe B1. He has Ian under his spell and is buying up the world supply. On the other hand I did think that seeing them go round the layout mught just cause a problem for B1.
Ian is a fantastic guy and completely honest but beware B1 who is out for world domination and it could be that Miss 11 (if I remember a few years ago she was involved with James Bond in a thread) could be called in to sort out the banana crisis.l

Then everybody should stock up on banana cars before the market is cornered and there is a run on bananas. Were that to happen, the price may become so exorbitant than none on a normal salary could afford another acquisition, causing the market to stagnate unless the obvious desperate measure were taken: the banana split

I'll be contacting my broker tomorrow to get me into an option.

In all serousness...

This is exactly what happened in my other hobby, stamp collecting.

A group of 'investors' bought up all the 'Europa' stamps they could get their hands on. Once they cornered the market, they placed strong buy and sell ads in the papers. The whole group is now under indictment in Spain.

The question is: Are 8 Banana vans enough?

Because of the floods and storms in the Carnarvon region in Western Australia (not to be confused with Caernarvon in Wales) and also the tragic unfolding of the floods in Queensland, bananas are now A$ 15.00/kg.

Having said that without blinking an eye, the price of banana carriages or wagons are becoming a topic of interest, never the less speculating on future prices on this commodity could bring this forum topic into disarray in the coming month unless we have some concrete figures how many banana carriages or wagons are in circulation.
All I've seen is, if we can trust B1 & B2, 8 Banana carriages and 1 on its way from the old colony Australia.

If we continue to speculate on the future banana carriage market, we have to estimate how many carriages are actually in members possessions, we could see duplications of photos going forwards and backwards, creating an illusion and therefore triggering a panic buying succession.

My concern is , when the market will crash, it is just a matter of time and it will, what can we say to the rest of the world about our solid performance regarding this world known forum and especially our respected investors.

I personally think we should have an officially recognized inquiry into this fiasco and expose the culprits who started it all.

Who is going to drink to that ?

John

Hi Ian, just watched the video, very nice, and noticed your gonna add to the 47 during the summer, careful when buying from warm climates that they're not over ripened Smile but they should be rustfree Sneaky
Also watched the "run round the quarry" vid, very nice scenery happening there, but your Olympic class C looked as tho she was flat out hunting bannas !LOL

if the chicken stays on the track for much longer it could be a steam chicken.
