It seems that there are a lot of bananas ripening through the forum at different trees, so I thought why not get them all under the one branch.

So, if you have, buy, acquire, find, grab, steal (if you have no scruples) or just love banana wagons, why not post them here. Doesn't matter what scale or what age, just peel them right inLOL

Pictures, youtubes, stories, layouts, even jokes, anything to do with bananas come to this topic.

Ian, since you are B1, maybe you could start off. My banana wagons are packedBigGrin away at the moment, but come the weekend, I'll get them out and take a few piccies in banana type settingsCool

Come one, come all...... Romans, friends and countrymen lend me your bananas.......and so forthFlapper

All the best from B2Tongue (now if I could only find a picture of B1 and B2 from Bananas in Pyjamas to post hereBlink )

Yes, I think banana vans deserve their own topic. After all, they have featured in Marklin's line-up for many years.

I have only ONE banana van, so here is my contribution, a car from Marklin's 47904 set. A bit unusual. If you look at the Marklin website, the car is advertised without a brakeman's cab.

Hi Dusan and fellow Banana fans,

Yes, I think it's a great idea, to keep us all in the one place, for our own safety, and for the sake of others.

Right, here's a couple of photo's from Set 4876, very nicely detailed vans complete with sliding doors, for easy loading of your bunch of banana's.

Hi Dale,

Great photo, that's just how I look, but I always thought Dusan was taller than me.

Can you make us both look bigger.

Hi Banana fans,

Stephen provided great information on the different 4509 vans available.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to post it over here in this topic.

Maybe, some fellow banana fans could help out.

You will find it at Baden-Wurttemberg part 2, page 8 and post number 792.

Thanks.

The two early version no.3 and 4 of 10 wagons was 1952-1954. The one no.5 was 1955-1957.

Rest of the seven wagons from 1958 to 1975.

Its funny,

I've just came across this topic and you wouldn't believe it, yesterday I went past this shop and it just caught my eye, banana carriages.

I went in and was absolutely surprised, they sold them off cheap, A$ 1.50 each
One of them, even was a limited edition.

They also had a suitable loco for it, so I just went bananas and bought the lot.

pictures will follow

Oh I'm so sorry,

This is a view from the factory outlet

UserPostedImage

here you can see it needs a heavy diesel loco to get these bananas as quickly to the Marklin-users.net forum

UserPostedImage

Another view from the banana helicopter, the last of the banana carriages has a full sound system. (you get my drift)

UserPostedImage

As mentioned before, I like the detail, the grain and special weathering

UserPostedImage

Staying with details, this is the inside view of a banana carriage, wooden floor and insulated walls.

UserPostedImage

I thought it would be appropriate to show new comers and members who haven't got any banana carriages, here is a simple way of converting them from real into a model.

And the whole diorama was build on a breadboard # 3

More advise available if needed.

Per,

it did say no matter what scale!

I'm sure John's banana wagons must be using the c track as narrow gauge and therefore the scale of his train should be about a banana and half to the footTongue

Hi guys
Maybe not the "freshest", but this is how they used to be when I was a kid.
They don't grow them like this anymore...
Cheers

Yes, I hope Mr. Pluta is monitoring this side, as B2 outlined the strict conditions, no other fruit is allowed, so Märklin may stop making the odd lemon.ThumbDown LOL

B2 & B1,

This is the first topic since I've joined this banana group of lads and girls, I can say I've enjoyed watching the different carriages from different eras.

So I did what others do, sit back and relax with a glass of bordeaux and watch all the different bananas go by.

After a few glasses, realizing not having any banana carriages myself, I was touched by this story and topic, I got a bit emotional
