I just watched it, and that is all they say: next years model will not be a steamer.

Ah yes, but which Insider model were they referring to? There's usually more than 1 during the year.
This year we had Br 50.40 and E17.
In 2012, maybe it will be Non-steamer, Steamer. Time will tell!

"The Insider Model" always refers to the first H0 Insider Model (and "Insider" implies 3R).
The second H0 model is hardly ever a new mould (where E 17 is an exception to the rule).
In about a week we'll know the first batch of the 2012 club models - and a few months later we'll know the other H0 club model.

I re authored the video file for iPod using a tool called Xilisoft Video Convertor. The file now plays correctly on the iPod as well as the PC.

I somehow managed to download what must have been a preview of episode 38 (German version) several weeks ago (24 Nov). I didn't quite know what it was - I was actually intending to download ep35 again to see if the stuttering problem I had was in the file that Marklin had - so I saved it as 'Marklin TV - I dunno what this is.mp4'

Something wrong there. Even under the English log-in, the script is spoken in German.

Yep, the same video was shown as German Episode 36 for a day or two until they fixed it (BigD said it's an old episode).

I don't know about it being an old episode, but what Marklin has posted as supposedly the English episode 38 is the same as what I downloaded 2 weeks ago. I don't think it is a MTV episode - it is about half the size of normal, and does not have the MTV theme music.
And, certainly the German ep38 is different, that is definitely a MTV episode.

As of 12/14 this still is still not working for me? I still get the clock tower upgrade in German. Has anyone been able to view this episode in english?

No Art, it seems Marklin have goofed up. Whatever the clocktower clip is, it isn't episode 38.

I sent an email to Marklin complaining about this episode - what has a clock tower to do with model trains.
I'm starting to get p@#$ off with these episodes - they are only promotional videos of their new products. I thought that this is ok for a bit - after all they need to promote and sell their products, but they are not using the medium to its fullest advantage. They should be including instructional videos, to help us better use and understand their products. I'm sure if they did this they would sell more products.
What do you think?
Greg
Take it easy . . . . or any other way you can get it !!!!

I completely agree with you Greg. I've watched all of the videos since the beginning and was really pleased with them at first but now they are becoming a little bit plain, monotonous, and obviously skewed towards their new products. Personally I could walk into a dealer store and get the same info. What I want more of is: 1) production techniques / operations 2) behind the scenes at Marklin (administration, logistics, design, planning, etc.) 3) perhaps visiting customer layouts / train related tips / techniques
The clips where they follow a train around for about 5-10 minutes (for example in the Rhine river valley) are boring to me, but I could see how train enthusiasts would enjoy them.
Best regards,
Paul

Hi Greg,
That is a very good idea.
However I believe it would come at some cost to ourselves as consumers. The production of such information would be very expensive (read time = money).
Perhaps they can reduce the number of TV episodes, to one a month, to pay for this.
Or perhaps they could add to the price of each article they sell.
Either solution would appear to be counter productive.
The solution might be to charge for instructional videos (online), like you pay for apps for your Apple products.
After all, the only watchers are Insider members anyway. So each month, you have the option to watch an instruction for a nominal fee, and you only watch what you need to watch (= user pays). I for example, don't need a video on how to install track on a gradient, or install a level crossing.
I might be tempted to watch a video on installing and using circuit trips/levers or whatever they are called, or installing decoder and motor for track points/switches.
regards
Kimball

After a few days of only getting the clock tower intro, I finally got the correct video of episode 38 in English today.

They'll include a "Best of" DVD with the next Insider mailing (but there'll be no DVD with new items videos in 2012 - but Märklin TV is full of new item videos ...).

Not that I scrutinise these videos, but did anyone else notice the pantograph and catenary separate at 5min 20secs - and it still keeps rolling?
See, I am paying attention

I had to reload once to get rid of the clock tower episode. After that episode 39 started just fine.
They also mention that the insider €20 voucher is good until 27/12 instead of 20/12 as mentioned on the voucher.

Am I right in believing that among the guests invited to the unveiling of the "Museumswagen" was also Michael Pluta, who was in charge of Märklin during the "Insolvenz" period?
Have a look at the man in the dark suit and striped tie at about 6 minutes into the episode.

He still is the insolvency manager of "Märklin Holding GmbH" and a member of the advisory board of "Gebr. Märklin & Cie. GmbH".

Thanks Tom!
So Michael Pluta, holding the postions you mention, would rather be considered to be a representative of the host at the Erlebniswelt.
Furthermore Michael Pluta's company is based in Ulm, which I'd guess is only an hours drive from Göppingen.

Doesn't say much for their double switches, one of the coaches almost derailed, pulled by a 212 Diesel loco.

Märklin TV episode 41 in German:
http://www.maerklin.de/d...chungen/maerklin-tv.html
So far in the "Outsider" area only, not yet on the "Insider" club pages.
They are showing pictures from the Toy Trade Fair 2012.

I just watched the English version.
Marklin are quite magnanimous in this episode.
They gave quite a lot of time to, and feature in some detail, products from Auhagen, Busch, Faller, Heki, Ladegut Bauer, Noch and Vollmer. That included interviews with their CEOs/Marketing Directors etc.
Sorry if I missed any brand names.
regards
Kimball

Folge 42:
You do not have to like the 'Donald Duck' to realise that the production process followed by Maerklin is professional and precise.
Quality control of the metal body shells says it all,you are getting worth for your money when you buy Maerklin.
Clip also explains why the motor unit has two electric motors (smaller type,as such fitted under interior).
I opine these clips are made in a very professional way, typical German style comments too,not a single slip of the tongue.
In line with news broadcast on German TV:very clear speaking of text, not searching for words,i like that.
Not so on Dutch TV: many mistakes when reading the news, apparently Dutch is a difficult language for us Dutchmen!
BR50: bodyshell looks rough, must be a testmodel (Handmunster).
Cheers,
Paul.

Looks like out of a 3D printer.

Watching the movie ET403 seems to equip with two motors in intermediate car. Either motor drives one bogie by carden shaft repectively. The unique design conforms with the authentically power-distributed railcar.
