Hi,

A bit of news for those interested in Danish Märklin models.

The Danish company "Tog og Tekno" has issued another special Märklin production of the DSB coal transport wagons. It is almost identical to the previous Pur wagon that was issued at the same time last year (item 94332) but the number has changed. Märklin item number of the new wagon is 94344 and its printed number is 9891. It has a platform where the old one has none.

The wagon may be ordered from their homepage (in Danish) at Tog og tekno.

Price is around US$50 and €35 excluding shipping. A bit expensive but if you like these specially issued Danish wagons it is not out of the ordinary.

Hi Jacob,
Interesting wagon, it is the same as in the DB 46030 set.

Did they have coal mining in Denmark, or was this across the border?

regards
Kimball

Hi Kimball,

Yes, it is the 46030 with DSB text. No new designs for such small production run BigGrin

No coal production in Denmark, however Denmark imports a great deal of coal from Poland, Germany, etc. I guess these small PU waggons were mainly used to transport coal from the harbours to the power plants but I am not 100% sure.

Best regards,
Jacob

Actually we have deposits of lignite (brown coal) in Denmark, according to this http://www.abildaa.dk/Brunkulsleje/Brunkul.html website, it was mined from 1914 to 1970 - not to say that the car in question was used for that - could very well be used for imported coal ;)

Fun fact: There is a somewhat embarrasing error on this new wagon. The text on the side reads "PU" when it should have read "PUR".

A small update to this thread on specially produced Danish wagons. Another new DSB wagon has been released under product number 94345.

UserPostedImage

It is an era 3 wagon based on a real ZE 504016 wagon from the 1950s and early 60s.

The 46455 wagon released in the regular Märklin 2009 program also models a real Kosangas wagon. This time from era 4 (1980-88). So historically these two wagons did not run together.

Following the theme of Danish wagons, here is an update for 2014.

Here is another Marklin wagon added to my inventory.
It is 4890.132, a special edition for a Danish hobby shop in Aalborg, but available generally at most hobby shops (Marklin dealers) in Denmark.
The box is labelled HK Modeller, Aalborg.

It has exquisite lettering, and the logo is easily recognised by Danish people, as the renowned maker of a local schnapps.
The lettering actually means the car was allocated for carriage of yeast between Odense and Aalborg, which inscription appears on the destination letterboard to the lower right side of the car.
The car looks as it might have been in the late 1920s/early 30s. Sometime before the 1940s, the brakemans cabin was removed, and the side lettering changed to the simplified version shown on the end of the car.
