I have a 346/6 coach in reasonable order that would be improved by replacing a bogie unit which is secured by a rivet. The replacement is a screw in. I suppose I have to drill out the rivet. Does anyone have experience of this operation please?

If I remember my 346/1 correctly, there was a little metal piece that secured the bogie pin into place. Once that little clip was removed, the bogie could be removed. The clip was located on the inside of the coach where the bogie pin extends into the coach body. It is possible that the design may have changed between various productions, so there may have been models that used a different fixation system.

Yes found it and the rest was easy. Thanks Mike C. The replacement bogie I have seems to be missing the metal plates which position the axles, so the wheels drop out when the coach is shaken. Time to sacrifice another 346. I only really wanted to replace the coupling mechanism but I don't think that pin will let me.
