Hi everyone,

I bought my self a satellite navigator phone and I'm trying to navigate my locos via voice but all I get is the headlights coming on. where have I gone wrong ? I can't get any instructions because the seller hasn't answered my questions

Hi John.
Yes, I did the same surprisingly with the same results Cursing
My phone is Android based, and I found the plug-in app.
But when I opened it , it was unable to retrieve my position's coordinates :no satellite visible from my train room and my wireless network connection is not accurate enough. So all it does is a local connection with the phone and the Bluetooth dongle on the ECOS, allowing access to the lok 's functions, but won't move it since it cannot track any displacement.
The solution is probably the new micro-GPS device announced by Viessman at the last toy fair in Nurnberg. Once installed it will scan your layout and memorize it's entire 3D configuration.
Once the layout database has been logged in, the locos will be located and moved with great accuracy.
Availability was quoted to be early April 2015...
Märklin is also reportedly preparing a new "Lokführermeldungsgerat" (LMG) for Mfx+ locos which will allow direct vocal communication with any of the rev. 7.8 Preiserleins installed in the Lok's Fuhrerstand.
That one is quoted to be available exactly one year later.

Can't wait.

Jacques,

I always like it when 2 brains work alike, I hope someone else comes up with the solution ? I'm sure there must be someone out there who knows the answer ?

Thanks for the compliment, I didn't even know I had a brain! BigGrin

Maybe you should use the satelite navigation system that the current Faller Car System uses, they show satelites being used in the brochures.

Hi Alan
Yes, indeed, thanks Alan!
In fact I was originally looking at that solution too, but it is ultrasound based for localisation, and hence doesn't work in most of the tunnels.
I have a large "Schattenbahnhof"...and losing track of 12 trains at the time is a real problem.
I think John has the same predicament.

I have gone back to my internet provider and he has explained the situation to me, which is ridiculous, why sell a digital component when you can't depend on its location, every time there is a cosmic sun storm the navigator looses 2 % of its accuracy and it can't align or re calibrate the last position you've programmed.

Jacques, sorry missed your replies, I can't find the instruction for the ECoS or aren't there any ? looks to me you've gone on your own, I tried to connect it to the ECoS sniffer and also plugged in the ECoS link and the moment I do this the ECoS stops, is there a different ID number you have to use ? I've written to ESU to get some clarifications but they may not pass on information as the component we are talking about is not a genuine ESU product but you would think in today's electronic achievements these type of applications are written into programs or at least tell you how to do it, I'm still having problems with the accuracy of stopping the loco at the exact spot, I've got a bit closer by turning the object by 2 % but its still out by 1.5 %, my wife wasn't impressed when I told her and she reckons its another waste of money on useless toys it will take me month to convince her when she'll see the final results, lets hope so

No problem John.
The problem with the Faller system as I said is the localisation system using Ultrasound Transducers.
The nanoGPS technology is derived from microrobotics where complex small equipment gets assembled on flexible WIP sub-compact plants.

The DUA (device under assembly) is to be tracked accurately (mm range) so "real" full size GPS won't work.
The set up I'm looking at requires at least 3 locating transducers that continuously send bursts of microwave energy (in the sub-micron wavelengths) , with each transducer having its own wavelength. The DUA is fitted with a tuned resonator which reflects the energy. It also adds a unique ID number for identification purpose (pretty much like AIS on boats and planes. This part could easily be incorporated into locos digital decoder.
Each transducer analyzes the reflected energy and calculate the phase difference between send and receive signals, and thus calculate its distance to the DUA. The results (with timestamp) are sent to a PC (or in our case a Smartphone or a tablet connected to the ECOS via Bluetooth)that calculates the 3D coordinates of the DUA.
The locating info is treated like a multitude of virtual S88 feedback devices...and voilà !
What really surprizes me, is that no one has caught up with this, especially at this early April time-frame.
Cheers
Jacques.

Jacques thanks, but they are very expensive is it really worth it going down that path ?, being on the pension it's out of my league and my wife would send me with the supb-micron wavelengths.
I've noticed on other forums comes Easter nobody is really interested in digital technology all they want to do is find the Easter eggs, its child play.

It just shows you how much we concentrate on important issues and it sometimes tells me, why bother, why introduce something new, looks like mfx + is the going thing at the moment but the potential of this new technology, if and when they get it right I'm sure will be cheaper when it goes into massive production levels, my unit was reduced quite a bit in price because I've been with the company for over 15 years, strangely enough they can't reduce my internet plan but give me other offers for almost free.

Hi everyone, I appreciate your attendance by reading this article, it is now 8 days past 1st April 2015 and we have had 311 visitors reading about the fictitious satellite navigator, I thank Jacques for spotting the hoax straight away and adding confusion and fire to the subject, Alan hasn't replied as yet, to see his version of event.
I thank everyone who has taken part and I'm sure some of you wondered what was it all about and it does give me some indication what the forum members think when it comes to digital nonsense. although it must have awaken the curiosity with some members to read it. I can understand not asking questions regarding satellite navigators, I'm sure MFX and MFX + must keep you busy without pondering about a new product or was it so far beyond the average brain to absorb any of the given words used in this fictitious article.

311 members read it and no questions asked, like give us an example, what does it look like ? who's the company who produced it, in a nut shell unless you show some pictures and it has wheels, a lot of details and its a new or rare item, forum members are curious but not interested, what a shame but we had fun and this is what it is all about it, we don't care what anybody else thinks about it.

Hello John.

Maybe no one figured out the joke because you sent the email previously of April 1st...

"#1 Posted : 31 March 2015 23:55:12"

Few minutes, but before... BigGrin

I must admit my curiosity when I read the article and made the face "What?!?!" Confused

(I searched the LMG appliance on google, of course with no results - Nice name you created Jacques) Flapper

Best shot next year! Laugh Laugh

Cheers,

Walter
