I have just purchased Marklin passenger cars. Some are metal and some are plastic. How do I, or can I, take the tops off to add seats and people to the inside?
Thanks for any help.

Hi Judy,

As far as I know all the metal ones have a seperate roof which just clips on. You should be able to pull it off easily.

The plastic ones sometimes have a seperate roof, but also sometimes the roof is moulded together with the coach sides and ends. If this is the case you should be able to remove the whole body from the chassis. Sometmes you have to pull off the black end pieces to allow this to happen. Sometimes you have to slide something sharp along the gap between body and chassis to release the clips.

Can you post the catalogue numbers of these coaches? If you don't have them you could post a photo.

.....and some of them, you may have to unscrew a couple of fasteners...etc.
There are many variations... We 'll be happy to give you specifics once we have a look at the pictures.

Most metal coaches have roofs that are held in place by little clips (at the coach ends) or by little indents that serve as clips along the edges. Most plastic coaches have unipiece bodies with a few exceptions. Those coaches are either fixed to the chassis by a pair of screws or clips usually near the couplers or have two little pins which are attached to the gangway connector that require that part to be removed before the shell can be separated from the chassis.

We can give you precise information if you provide model numbers, photos for the models.

Regards

Mike C
