Hi,

I wanted to get some signals into my layout, but I prefer analog. I no longer see the 7041, 7039, etc. signals available. What year did these stop production? Are there alternate manufacturers other than Marklin that make similar signals?

Finally, if I do go to the MFX signals, is it possible to control these individually. I dont want to scroll through MS2 to control them. Is the 6040 keyboard an option?

If your are patient you can find in www.ebay.de the 7036,7038,7039,7040,7041 signals in perfect condition.I have them in my layout for over 20 years. They worked in analog operation, later with my 6021 and 6040 keyboards, and now with the CS2 without any problem at all, they are very reliable.I am not sure but i think that the keyboards cannot work without the 6021.We can wait an answer for another member of the forum.BigGrin

Looking around I see a company called Viessmann has signals as well. Are these compatible with Marklin and do they offer the same control? I can't seem to get their website to work correctly to see their product line.

Ok I found a website that has the viesmann manuals. These look really nice and cheaper than the Marklin. Anybody have experience with this brand?

The Viessmann signals are more realistic and they are compatible with marklin system. They are not so easy to fix them and make them work, and they are not so reliable as the marklin signals are.

Hi,

No, the 6040 keyboard can be used only with the CU 6021.

Cheers

I have some Viessmann semaphore signals on my layout. They look good, better than the old Marklin ones. The mechanisms are a bit fiddly and easy to damage though.

On one of my signals the end switches gave problems and I had to resort to spraying wd40 into it. This got it working, but the slow action no longer works.

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways
Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Hi, i am picking up 7041, 7038 etc off ebay regularly out of the USA for good prices say $50 each with instructions and boxed. Work really well and suit my vintage marklin m track layout. Regards Ken

You can control these signals with control boxes. Different signals require different control boxes, but AFAIK you can get a control box for any Märklin H0 signal including the new ones 70391 &c.

Tom
