Hi,

I have many originally LFCM motor equipped locos modified with 60944 5-pole motors and permanent magnets. They are still without decoders. Have anyone tried to use 60760 kits decoder (intended to be used with DCM 5-pole motors) with 60944 motors? I would like to try this combo, but if someone knows this is an absolute no-no, please let me know. I just thought if this could be possible? Confused I will get better decoders to most of my 60944 motor kit equipped locos, but maybe some 3021´s could have this decoder. RollEyes

Regards,
Janne

Someone must have tried this combo = 60944 5-pole motor (basically also DCM) and 60760 decoder. Does this combo work ok?

Happy New Year 2015! Cool

Cheers,
Janne

Hi Janne,

I have not personally tried it, but I don't see any reason why they should not be a good match. The 60944 kit effectively converts the LFCM into a DCM, with a similar size of armature, so there should not be any major difference in the dynamics of this motor to the DCM.

Try it and see, and please let us know how well it works!

On the other hand, this is only equitable if you already have these decoders left over from another conversion, as a 60942 MLD decoder is actually not very different in price from a 60760 kit. I think the difference is about 3 euros. The MLD decoder will give you MFX and more functions, apart from better speed performance.

I've used a 60760 decoder in a loco with a SFCM motor (it was a 3000) and that worked fine. I see no reason why a 60760 decoder would not work with a LFCM motor.

Try it and see, if it doesn't work well you can replace the decoder.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replys. I will try 60760 decoder with 60944 motor kit (LFCM modification motor kit to 5-pole DCM).

Happy New Year 2015! Smile

Cheers,
Janne

Just had my LFCM Ae6/6 converted with 60942 and 60944 - can't fault the performance - so quiet and powerful. Will likely use 60944 on two other analogue loks, not cheap but you get what you pay for.
