The 06/2014 Insider pack arrived today.

The Insider magazine has the class 18.5 on the cover and also an article on the Z Gauge Br236 (V36) Diesel locos.

The MM has the S2/6 on the cover, plus articles on 30 years of Marklin Digital, the CS2 mfx+ features, and the 'Economic Miracle' Era III years.

Included with the pack is a brochure about the S2/6 and part 2 DVD of A Year with Marklin 2014.

On the Internet Insider Club site it was stated that it was sent on December 1st. Given this information, I sent an eMail on December 20th asking if this was correct and got an answer on December 23rd stating that it was sent on December 4th.

On December 23rds I have seen the yellow Postal service car drive past and dropping off a couple of Christmas Cards and a magazine "Schienenverkehr aktuell" (a magazine in German about rail traffic in Austria published by a Swiss publisher) in the letter box, but no Insider package.

I then wrote a new eMail pointing out that I had received this magazine mailed in Luzern in Switzerland on December 23rd and I suspected that my Insider package 6/2014 could have been lost in transit, since the Märklin Insider packages are mailed in Zürich in Switzerland not far from Luzern and close to three weeks seemed a bit too long, given that another non-priority mailing from Switzerland made it in six days.

Much to my surprise when I went out to the letter box to pick up the morning paper on December 24th, what was in the mailbox besides the paper and a couple of letters that the morning paper distributer also delivered - YES, it was the 6/2014 Insider package!!!

This could either have meant that another postal operator than the traditional Postal service was responsible for distributing the Insider package in Sweden or it had been delivered the day before to a neighbour who had put it in my letter box late at night.

It is still surprising that an Insider package makes it faster to New Zealand than to Sweden.

The UK ones certainly are bulk transported and then distributed by a forwarding company. Mine came with a sticker over much of the envelope window (they left enough that my address could be seen) with the distributors name and carrying the relevant postage so the post office did the 'final mile'.

It's even more surprising when you know that we don't have 7 day mail delivery - I think it is 5 days out of 7 (and I think that might be reduced to 3 days from June next year).

That's weird.. We have gone to six since 1 December and it will be a permanent arrangement for parcel post. I expect as the Aussie$ continues its downward slide the parcel deliveries will slow down and we will return to five days..

Hi Renato,

just for information, do you receive Märklin Insider packages directly from Märklin by mail or through your Marklin dealer?

I just dug out the envelopes and checked - both the Marklin and Trix envelopes have UKMail stickers on them Cool

Just as well they don't send them parcel post or they could be City Link ... Scared

But you do not know the well known dis-organization of Italian Post Service.

One example: if you put in a mail box located in Gorizia a letter to be sent to another address in Gorizia, the letter is sent to Venice (or Padua) where a big automatic addressing system is located then sent back to Gorizia where finally the post man put it in the recipient mail box.

A lot of wasted time...(about 2-3 working days, sometimes more)

Cheers
