I am not a big fan of Marklin's passenger coaches, but few years back when Marklin released the Silberling coaches in 1:93 instead of 1:100, I ordered a set expecting to see improved details from their new tooling.

#43800 Type B4nzb-64 second class coach
#43810 Type AB4nb-59 first & second class coach
#43820 Type BD4nf-59 control car, second class & baggage

The coaches are excellent on painting and lettering quality. The exterior details is also excellent; it has separately applied hand-rail, door-steps with raised pattern, and good under-carriage equipments exterior. However those under-chassis equipments are just resembling a simple plate, there is no blocks of equipments nor undercarriage pipes.
The interior details is still basic, I would say that there is no improvement on this area.
In regards of interior and under-chassis details, these coaches are still not in par to most Roco or LS Models coaches. But considering its price is lower than comparable offering from Roco or LS Models, then these Marklin coaches are still relevant.

Below are the photographs:

The printing is excellent. The set 43800, 43810, and 43820 carry Stuttgart-Tubingen route plate printed on its side.

Separately applied hand-rail:

Raised pattern on the door steps instead of just plain flat surface as common on Marklin's older coaches.

Details on undercarriage exterior is well defined although there is no details below the chassis.

This photo shows the "empty" under-chassis, basically no details there.

The control cab is equipped with two red and three white lights, changing automatically according to direction of travel. The lights are all LEDs.

I have three Silberlinge from starters set 29720

Silberlinge 2. Klasse Bn 719
Silberlinge 1./2. Klasse ABn 703
Silberlinge 2. Klasse BDnf 738 steuerwagen "Hasenkasten"

I would like to add one 2nd class coach.
Märklin 43800 being Silberlinge 2. Klasse (B4nzb-64)

Is this optical identical/compatible with the ones from the set?
Both have length of 28.2 cm.
Mosty era III DB.

Hi Gert-Jan

Probably way too late, I did not notice your question before.

Starter set 29720 is ERA IV with UIC numbers below the DB logo.
The 43800, 810 and 820 are ERA III with no UIC numbers.

Other than that I believe they are identical.
