Would you happen to know if I can substitute a Marklin 43742 restaurant car for a Marklin 4373 Restaurant car? Someone is selling one that I am interested in and it looks the same as a Marklin 4373. I just want to be careful before I connect it to my other Marklin 4371, 4372 passenger cars.

Is it compatible? Thanks for your help.

Hi Ken,

There do appear to be compatability criteria for these sets.

I note that the description for 43742 includes:
"Intermediate car to add to the model of the ICE powered rail car train in the Hobby or Delta verison (from the 29761, 29765, 29785 and 29865 starter sets). Cannot be used with the 33701, 33712, 37701, 37712 and 40712 models of the ICE trains. Special close couplings with guide mechanism."

So it does not mention your ICE set.
My suggestion is to phone Walthers, (or Marklin in Germany) to get the real answer to your question.
I have always found Marklin in Germany to be most helpful with technical enquiries.

Someone on this forum may also know from experience, if they notice your topic.

regards
Kimball
