Hi Marklin have made in the past a long wheel base coach, which made up a set for the Belgium market. The set is 4397. Is there a lighting unit for these coaches I ask, as they look a nice set and are on my wish list!

Dan,

I do not think there is a Marklin lighting set for these coaches.

It is basically a Trix product from 1993 adjusted for the Marklin AC system.
Trix were known for the very fine details of their plastic coaches, also Marklin were about to take over Trix at that time.

I ploughed through the 1993 Marklin catalogue.
The productnumber 4397 is mentioned but in the sparepartlist no mention is made of a lightingset for these coaches.

Still a nice set!

Paul.

They look quite simular to the donnerbuschen, which in my idea did have a lightening set. Maybe with a little adaption, they could serve your cause?

Kristof,

They are not similar to the Donnerbuschen.
No provision has been made to instal a lamp and sleeper.
I would not like to try my luck on such a nice set.

I also thought about how similar they are to the Thunderboxes.

Perhaps the only way to know is to actually have them in your hands to see what can be done.

I soon will, as I have just bought one off ebay!! When I get them I will put some pictures up of them and there underside.
It should not be to difficult to put a slider on at least one of them. Without damaging them. I wish to place figures in them, anyway. So they have to come to bitsCrying
