Hi, this is my first request to the usernet. Does anyone know where I can find tank wagons with Q8 and Statoil insignia. Apparently they were bundled by Marklin in 87 in a start pack. Also looking for other tank wagons of now non existent Oil Companys. Malcolm

I have a feeling there was a Q8 one in Primex. There was a start set that had a blue E44 and (IIRC) 5 two axle tank wagons, and I think one of them was a Q8.1987 would be about the date for that set.

There was on eof these sets for auction recently (as part of a larger lot) that had one of these sets. See this Warwick & Warwick auction for a picture, but looking at it there doesn't seem to be a Q8 one, and the package inscription suggests it is 1989, so I am thinking of the wrong set. But this does have Jet, Avia, Aral BP (black body, not standard Marklin silver body) and Total tankers.

Greetings Malcolm,

Marklin issued many many tankcars over the years, mostly two axle cars but sometimes also 4 axle cars.
There was a Swedish two axle Q8 car in 1987,the Marklin number is probably 4440,note it also came as a Dutch version.
There is a picture on page 136 of the book Wertanlage Marklin.
The Marklin Primex 2702 set contained some tankcars but not for Q8 or Statoil.
Please see some pictures in following link:

http://www.lekohobby.com/tankvagnar.htm

There was also a 4 axle gascar for Statoil with Marklin number 46558.

If you are into collecting tankcars,it is best to visit a modelrailwayfair at times, take your time and walk several times along the many tables with thousends of marklin cars, and you will be amazed what to find.
Google on Marklin, tankcar, and you have plenty to think about.

Should add that many of these Marklin cars were used for advertising purposes, same as for the 4415 reefercar.
Probably most of them were not operational in real life.
I have seen many tankcars in Rotterdam port, most were black or grey and very dirty.
Marklin even issued a tankcar in lightblue with text Friesche Vlag, which is a Dutch maker of fatty coffeemilk,i do not believe milk was ever carried in tankcars by rail.
In any event great fun to collect them!

Greetings Malcolm & welcome to the forum.

There is a extremely large toy fair / exhibition in the city of Utretch Nl each year at the end of October . The organisers say there is over 1 kilometre of tables with so much Marklin on show that there is more under the table than on the table .

http://test.eurospoor.nl/en/

If you can visit this exhibition you will be surprised at what is on offer & hopefully go home with a full shopping bag .

Cheers Tom in Oz.

I can well recommend seeing the Eurospoor exhibition in Utrecht NL,at least once in a lifetime.
If it was produced by Marklin, you will probably find it there.
It is impossible to go there and go home empty handed!

Besides that,Utrecht is a nice city with good hotels an pleasant restaurants.
The railwaystation is very close to Eurospoor,it is probably the busiest station in Holland, plenty to see!

Hi Malcolm,
I too have an interest in tank wagons, though of course your primary interest is those with a Danish origin.

May I point you to two products.
Currently available is a special issue Marklin tanker for Jansen Benzin, available directly from http://www.togogtekno.dk/?p=2938.

http://www.togogtekno.dk/wp-content/uploads/ma-4870010-jansen2.jpg

Or Marklin produced a nice set of 2 x DDPA in 2006 for the Danish market.
it is #48546, and you can probably get it on eBay, or see it on the Marklin site.

regards
Kimball

HO Scale - Märklin (ep II-III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail HO (Queensland Australia, UK, USA) - 3 rail OO (English Hornby Dublo) - old clockwork O gauge - Live Steam 90mm (3.1/2 inch) gauge.

Well,well,look what i found!
Marklin 2844 a set with steamer 3029 in DSB version with tankcars Q8 and Statoil, only issued for the Danish market.
The steamer is pretty seldom in this version,i have it in my collection and it costed me dearly.
The set with box sells around the Euro 130 to Euro 150 mark, provided in new condition.
Steamer 3029 DSB also shows in the Marklin book Wertanlage Marklin.

Must say i am into Marklin for some 50 years now and i have never seen this set before!
Always tought it was only the loco, not so.

There is a set for sale on Ebay.de for less than Euro 130.-
